These last few days, Me, Wiz and Angelic have come under some criticism for our moderation of this site. When it first started I wasn't sure where it had come from. I found out last night it had started on a thread made a few days back. We've been labelled negative and the unsupportive Bristol city forum. I cant see how this is true as compared to the OTIB (no offense to them as I would love it if we were just as active) we are extremely positive on here. Every member has his right to post his or hers opinion about BCFC and we respect what all of you say. It seems a certain picture has upset a few members on here. This picture is Ernie the Robin, He can be found at the top of your screens in our banner. If you're not on the Computer this is the image. please log in to view this image To me, It's just a picture, A picture of a robin, To others its offensive. I personally don't mind it being there. I see it every time I walk into the eastend. Back to the Banner at the top. It was made by Natch when we first moved over, He created it for us and It has remained there ever since. Many/most know Natch sadly passed away and the Banner is there as a reminder of a great poster. Recently it has been criticised and a few posters don't want it on here, Due to Ernie being in the middle. Now as a moderator when a few people aren't happy with something we/I do my best to compromise and try and make them as well as others happy. It's what keeps our forum busy and active. Now due to an increased rise in members not happy with the image I have decided to see where we all are about it. At the top is a poll. If the image doesn't bother you or you like it then please just vote in favour of keeping it. If you don't like it and want it changed then please vote against it. Your votes shall not be made public. This thread will remain here for 7 days. It shall then be closed
Far more offensive pictures are posted than that robin, and your banner is fine...even though the Gate is empty! (None of my business I know...but you three are doing a pretty good job of keeping your site alive and growing from where I'm standing! I'll go now...........................................................)
I am not going to comment on positive and negative as a moderator myself trust me you will never win that argument. The logo (robin) is not offensive however it appears to be a question of did anyone ask if they could use this logo for another forum's header? seeing the logo was created for a fans group as their header, i would suggest you track down the guys and ask as it was produced only for that fans group to make positive projection of Bristol city even in times of darkness For or against a poll will make no difference if the artist does not want it here, it can lead to problems and I have seen this in the past with art work, not worth the hassle. Sympathy for the chap who passed away R.I.P
absolutely keep it, pesonally think the mods on this board do a great job at the expense of their own time, and on another note anything( within reason ) that makes this club and ground as intimidating as possible to visiting clubs and fans, is fine by me.
I see a vote where people like the Ernie logo made on a background of a Ashton gate photo made as a banner Fair enough, but the chap (with respect) did not draw Ernie and was the original artist asked to use the drawing? and also the back ground photo who ever took it just trying to save people a bit of hassle if the artist comes forward as I have seen problems like this, example: Head of Gow in 2004 t' shirts were made in a stencil type form from a photo and sold, the original photographer got wind of this and took the t' shirt makers to court as he was not consulted
I do not see why anyone would object to this pic, has been on here a very long time and gives the forum its own identity
The image isn't being used for a profit or being used as if we made it. It was taken because it was a good picture and represents our club. If this is why its causing a fuss because it doesn't belong to us then that's even more silly.
I understand all that, good image, represents our club, no problem with that, but I know people get pissy if they are not asked about their work being used elsewhere regardless of the time line it's been around on some websites (just give the WTMS chaps a quick shout and it could well be yes fair shout). hmm not bothered about the Robin really, but have to be careful of copyright stuff and all, don't know who "owns" the pic or complained about it but IF it has to be removed then that's a shame because we have a nice banner
sorry for the intrusion on this thread related to city members only. i just wanted to echo pirate49's comment. all 3 city mods (wiz, shiny and angelic) have done a great job for the city board and for the not606 site itself. the city board are 1 of the most active boards on the site and these 3 mods dont get paid for all their hard work they have put in to make it a success that it is. they deserve credit and praise. i wish the rovers board was half as busy as the city board. i liked natch and known natch for years and unfortunately we both had a falling out over something so stupid before he passed and im gutted we didnt sort it out. it would be such a shame to see his work go and a part of him what is left on this site go. its a reminder to us all of those who knew him on here that although gone he is not forgotten. again sorry for the intrusion, i havent voted as im not a city member obviously and i wouldnt want to effect the results for city members . i just wanted to give my opinion on the subject.
the 1st 2 posters, This banner has been on here over 2 years, we cannot answer if Natch got permission but after all this time nothing has ever been mentioned, so leave it. CJS, I'm sure all the City posters on here that know you appreciate your input

Shiny,Wiz and Angelic, for my money you guys are doing one hell of a job with our forum and long may it continue. I think we all know by now that there are some City fans who will complain about absolutely anything on here, so try not to take it personally. I for one do not find the image of the Robin in any way offensive, so happy for it to stay, particularly if it is the legacy of Natch who was a legend poster on this site and the 606 site before it.
To be honest I fail to see what the fuss is about - can't see why a picture of a robin is offensive?? Mods - you do a great job - you help make this forum a great place to exchange views (and we are not going to agree about everything otherwise it would be very boring) - we need you!! Let's all keep talking about and supporting the club we love!!
I think the Mod's need to speak to the Modfather Paul Weller to sort this out Wiz and Angelic are ok but that Shiny one is a bit dodgy

No but a few members aren't happy with the Ernie robin in the banner. Only a small minority but it went OTT on another thread.
