I can't decide between... Option 1: 4-3-3 Vorm (swansea keeper), Baines, Hangeland, Huth, Bardsley, Nani, Toure, Moses, Van Persie, Carrol, Zamora. Option 2: 4-4-2: al-habsi, baines, hangeland, huth, bardsley, nani, silva, downing, moses, carrol, zamora narrowed it down to a choice between those
This is the skysports one, so no subs or anything. Part based on last seasons form, part based on pre season and part based on who has favourable fixtures in the next 6 games.
I am leaning towards the 4-3-3 but it means having Toure instead of Silva, and if City sign Nasri i don't know how much of a cert to start Toure will be.
Always go for defenders from the top sides, if you need to get players from the smaller clubs, put them up front or in midfield where they can't cost you points by playing for a **** team, but can gain you them if they play well individually. E.g Swansea keeper might be a good player but will concede plenty and cost you points. However if you get Scott Sinclair he can't lose you points but he can gain you them now and again by scoring, which is much more likely than the Swans keeping a clean sheet.
Don't keepers get points for saves. Considering they will have shots peppered at them all season then low value keeper is a good thing
Well you get different scoring systems with different fantasy leagues, but usually defenders and keepers get points for appearances and loads for a clean sheet, but they also lose points for goals conceded. It's best to go with goalscoring defenders who play for big teams. For example the likes of Vidic, Luiz, Kompany and Bale (if he is listed as a defender) Those 4 play for teams who will get more clean sheets than most and when they do concede it wont be loads, they also score/assist a fair bit for defenders.
Well Baines was the second top points scoring defender last season, and Huth and Hangeland did better than the likes of many of the big guns , including Bale, Luiz, etc. Think they were both in the top ten. And Bardsley was cheap/high points scoring last season. So i'd argue that yeah it is best to go for goal scoring defenders (especially players like baines who take the set pieces, or big blokes like huth/hangeland who get a good few headers from set pieces), but it doesn't pay to choose ones from the big teams, they cost a lot more, and a lot of the time they don't score as highly as some of the defenders from other sides. If money was unlimited i'd have Vidic and Ivanovich probably, but my defence scored plenty of points without the big names last season. Swansea keeper was put in there purely because he was all i could afford if i wanted to have carroll and VP up front. As for Scott Sinclair, players like him, Holt, Taarabt etc. may be cheap but i feel are a bit of a gamble, i've gone with players from lower leagues in the past (beckford) and they don't always pay off, although sometimes they do pay off massively (adam). I do the sky one and the premierleague.com one, the sky one is a bit simple, no bonus points, no points for saves etc, so i tend to play it a bit differently.
It'd be boring if we all did it the same! I've given up on it in recent years anyway, because I find it spoils Match of the Day if every game I'm desperate for my players to score even though I'd normally want their teams to lose.
