I did enjoy my day out. Trains all on time, walked to and from the ground to Bletchley station in twenty minutes. Superb support from the City fans. I know the handing out of free scarves was seen by some as a bit twee, but suddenly we have everyone (98%) joining in with flag waving and singing. I had to stand all 90 minutes and at my age that is now quite a feat, but felt for those who could/would not stand. I know all the lead singers were spread throughout but I think that actually helps to get us quieter ones to join in. Thanks for that. As for the match, we were solid at the back, at times a bit too intricate in midfield and not clinical enough up front. It was not always the most effective and flowing performance if the season. But hey, we gained a very creditable point with a clean sheet away at the second in the league who had scored 36 goals at home. Onwards and upwards to the championship of League One.
Didn't think the atmosphere was all that for the numbers. The redeveloped Ashton Gate will be better than that for home fans with no retail park and £7 parking feel.
Thought the atmosphere was good, nowhere near Coventry but good all the same, any roar heard from out on the concourse was loud! I was having a piss when Jet had his shot saved late on.! Regards parking, got to say thanks to the owner of a tyre fitting place on the ind estate, we couldn't find anywhere and pitched up on his car park to be met with a big wide grin for our minibus full, "can I pay you some cash to park here mate" I said, "nah" he said "you can park there anyway, I don't need any cash, I just need a bit of banter from you Bristol boys" He was a top man, and 100% confident we were going home beaten!
Just got back from a weekend in Milton Keynes (stayed 2 nights) - not many pubs but a large selection of restaurants - road system is a grid (a bit like American cities I guess) - next time am tempted to stay in that Hilton hotel attached to the ground - will save battling to get out of the car park Atmosphere was good - very tight even game - draw was a fair result that suits us more than them
