Im with you on this one Dai, Brendon got us the money to rebuild the team, he didnt have to sign a new deal with us but he did. Was a great manager for us and a top bloke, hope to see him back here one day, with Joe Allen of course.

Not sure what's wrong with quoting August - has he ever targeted top 4? Well, yes he did. I'm not sure that, on coming to Liverpool, he said to himself "If we work hard we might not get relegated". (Please don't misunderstand me - they are not going to get close to being relegated).

That said - I've seen a few Liverpool fans say about the changes in the football played and their happiness with Allen etc. I'm not going to say that our football was bad last year, because I thoroughly enjoyed the way we played. I'm not going to say that he lacks a plan B when the way he changed games impressed me after Sousa and Martinez. In a way, it would be nice for British football's top teams to start shifting the way they play (Man U's European cup wins under Ferguson really weren't great displays and both Liverpool and Chelsea won the European cup through grit) as it would benefit the international teams.

I get what Gendros said too. And I say this as someone who was very disappointed by his departure - he comes out smelling of roses when compared to how Lambert treated Norwich. Rodgers did sign a contract, we did get money for him. We did get very good money for Allen too.

It isn't an inherent dislike of people who have left the club - I'm delighted for Caulker, for example (goal on debut - well done!) and I have my fingers crossed that Dobbie will get a proper shot at the Prem - but the flattery and media games were great when he was with us before becoming irksome when you see them from the outside. It makes you recognise a little why Norwich were quite so annoyed at us last year.

Someone quoted how, after losing 2-0 away one time, he started saying how the opposition fans were treated to something special (he might have meant three points, though). His gloating over 70% possession in a 0-0 draw was OK for us because we were happy that we were establishing ourselves in the league - it seems ill-judged at a team that has the history Liverpool does. Why does any of that bother me? He's not at our club, it's not my business... but there is the shadow that, given a chance, he would take as many players as possible from the Swans without thinking twice. As such, he's someone the club has to be weary of.

I do also have a dislike of business-speak. It inherently presumes that the speaker is smarter than everyone else, whilst proving the opposite.

What a stupid nonsensical post. gerrard has to say that because if he didn't he'd have the same Sky Generation Liverpool fan that slated Rodger's for saying above 8th would be good, would go after him.

You knew exactly what I was asking but just in case you're not quite with it I'll try again.

Find me a Liverpool supporter, not a player, or a Manager, or an Employee, or an ex-player, just you're average fan who comes on the internet and is the person your referring to with your comments, who has said top 4 is a realistic target this season.

You probably won't be able to because out of all the forums I frequent and all the Reds I talk to in real life, not one of these has thought even getting 5th is realistic this season, especially now.

You won't be able to because you're wrong and you know you're wrong.

You're charge was, and your beef was with, alleged Liverpool fans from this board that came on your board here and was gloating that we'd piss top 4.

I don't remember any such Red saying this, so unless you can show me these posts and prove me wrong, you have clearly lied to justify your obsession with Rodgers or Liverpool (I haven't figured which one it is, or maybe its both?) and been caught with your pants down.

The only fans who have any power of bringing pressure upon Rodger's position are those at Anfield as their the only ones the owners/Board take any notice of. Its always been this way at Liverpool.

There was mass hysteria over Hodgson from like his second game in charge. Literally. However it wasn't until December when the fans at Anfield started booing and singing songs making their position on Hodgson clear, and who they thought should have the job instead, that the new owners took any notice and eventually felt enough pressure upon them to sack Hodgson who they really didn't want to sack until the end of the season like they do with US Sports teams.

The vast majority of Liverpool fans are being very patient and I still haven't come across one who wants him gone or even doesn't think he'll be a good Manager in the end.

Their seems to be an agenda where people unaffiliated to Liverpool want to create this Hodgson-esque scenario with Rodger's but it couldn't be more different. The majority of fans in my experience are happy with him and are willing to give him plenty of time. The only people who think different seem to be internet warrior plastic fans who are still angry we didn't buy Falcao for £50m in the Summer.

He's safe until the end of next season at least. Longer if he does a better job. Unless we get new owners who want their own man.

I live in Liverpool and I'm a Kop season ticket holder that I share with my best friend.

You can't get more 'clued in' about Liverpool than us. I have every idea of what the fans in the Kop think as we speak about it every other week, and you hear people talk in the stands and when walking to and from the stadium. People are happy with him and thats a fact. I nkow its not what you want to believe or hear but thats the way it is up here where it matters. Even on the internet forums theres very very few people unhappy with him in anyway.

Its unpopular but the fact of the matter is that the fans inside the ground hold more sway and their opinions are given more value and listened to more. Especially by the club officials. He's safe no matter what unless FSG go or we end up in a relegation scrap.

That cannot be judged yet. Anyone with a brain would know that.

Only time will tell who get the better from it based on how good Rodger's and Allen do and what they achieve/become.

It'll be a few years yet until we see how it all pans out.

It just seems some Swans fans are desperately trying to make themselves feel better for losing a very successful Manager and one of their best players by patting themselves on the back and assuring each other they defo get the best out of the transaction.

Common sense dictates that the answer to that will be revealed in time.

Brain ... Then I suggest you run down to Tesco's and pick one up. Yoghurt is on sale today; select the variety with live cultures.

At this point in time: we have received a significant amount of money with which we have acquired four talented players to upgrade our squad (Ki, Pablo, Chico, Michu) and in the process picked up Laudrup a talented manager with a slightly different interpretation of our existing club philosophy and vision. The players have already demonstrated an increase or potential to increase in market value. From a purely business perspective, I think we are ahead in the transaction. I am writing as of now present tense - not tomorrow. "NPV" would indicate we are economically ahead. Leagues table suggests a similar situation.

And now back to the original theme of the article ..... Why is this so hard ..... Also based on Rogers' latest definition and use of his most favorite word "fantastic" it would appear that he is dumbing down his threshold for success and ergo (a little Latin there for our 'Pool followers without a brain) the current value and his assesmnt of the capability of his squad.

You might disagree with my reading of the original BBC article containing the quote .... Why don't ya'll try commenting on that ... Constructively ... As in the form of a discussion .... Tough but give it a ****ing try.

    A little young ones quote:

    Rik:
(Raised hand) Guys! Guys! Look at us! Squabbling! Bickering, like children. What's happened to us? We never used to be like this!

    VYVYAN: ...
Yes we did. We've always been like this.

    Ahem. <ok>

Residual from the election. I spent weeks drowning in utter bullshit then started to push back even though I can't vote and in the past have just turned a blind eye. Still coming down from that. The blizzard of defense for BR is like the barrage of BS from Fox News for Romney after each foot in mouth incident.

Your so clued in that you had no idea your own captain targeted 4th place...<laugh>

Anyway, as i said before nobody had a problem with rodgers going to a big club like Liverpool and 99% wished him well, what followed from him though did show a lack of class and was a bit disrespectful to SCFC RE how he behaved with first siggy then Joe Allen, thats what got people backs up a bit and rightly so IMO.
The TV show that aired prolonged our intrest in rodgers as it was an insight to how he also would have done things at Swansea, his comic book "david brent " style management speil was funny as fook and we started noticing more than ever how he always says the same things, his inspirational talk was getting tired from our point of view and it was clear that he was trying too hard to impress people up there.

I remember reading comments from liverpool fans saying how an open letter was a classy touch, of course, weeks before he did exactly the same down here!! its not bitterness at all its comedy value and the way he repeats the same stuff does make us laugh, your hearing his stuff for the first time so are obviously impressed, we were too until he started saying exactly the same things there as he did here..<laugh>

Brenden rodgers is a good coach,he did well for us and if he is given the time will do well for Liverpool,on reflection i think most of us think we had a fantastic deal out the whole situation,of course only time will tell but most suspect that he would never in a million years have repeated the same results this season, Laudrup is very clued in to the transfer market, he signed real qaulity for peanuts in financial terms and he has done fantastic considering the major injury problems we have suffered.

Brenden rodgers may well come in for some of our players in the summer if he does well, this keeps an intrest in him for us as we know the guy wouldnt have a problem unsettling our players once again, thats football and i understand, but be up front and honest about it and dont try and bullshit all the time Brenden !.

I think he is learning to wind his neck in alot more now and that is a good thing. i dont see Liverpool having any major problems this season unless saurez or to a lesser degree gerrard get injured.

We dont really care too much about rodgers but he will always be a source of intrest, this is normal and considering he enjoys the TV camaras there is alot of hi m to see and laugh about!
Remeber that he is trying to create Swansea at Liverpool, and that is probably what you guys dont want to hear or beleive as it signifies how far you have fallen as a football club, you know it,we know the whole of football knows it.

You will though return to former glory..good luck <ok>
