This was posted on another board. and i'm showing my surport to it. its mainly a Brighton / Plymouth thing. but as a saints fan myself. i can relate to this to a certain degree, but we got lucky when our savour came along in saint markus. i wish them all the best for the future. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please read this, I realise many of you wont go, but if a few who live locally or your playing away but not going please come along. Fans United, Will never be defeated. Drumstick. ------------------------------------------ http://www.northstandchat.com/showth...-Park-Plymouth Fans Re-united - 24th September @ Home Park, Plymouth I'm sure we're all aware of the plight of Argyle, and the amount of help they gave us (Brighton) in our (their) hour of need. I think it's time to repay that favour and declare their home game on the 24th September as FANS RE-UNITED DAY. They are in real danger of them going into liquidation. This would then mean our friends down the road would no longer exist as a team. The knock on effect throughout the football pyramid would be immense (although certain teams will feel immune from it). Their players have taken a 60% paycut to ensure the team can survive for another few weeks. We, the fans of the sport, need to show solidarity with their team. We need to rally the troops and take as many as possible down there to get behind Argyle. Take anything you can that will make a lot of noise down there. whistles, rattles, vuvuzelas, anything that's legal in a ground and will get heard. Let's make Home Park the noisest ground on the country for this day. If we (Brighton) could pull off a Fans United Day before the internet was a huge as it is now, can you imagine the potential now. Wear your colours and show them how much support they have. Please, if you're registered on a different football forum, copy this into their forum. We need to show the country how corrupt Risdale is. Saturday 24th September is Fans re-united day @ Home Park
Bounce. Anyone else? I'll be there in red and white supporting Argyle, they may talk funny out in the West country but their club is in trouble just like ours was not all that long ago. Joey will be romancing a student of unknown gender at 3pm....what will you be doing? Come along if you can
GREEN ARMY! I would go, but I move into Soton Uni that day (from lovely Gosport). Argyle was always a romantic football club I believe, never achieving dramatic heights, but nethertheless, in community terms, always one of the most important in the country. It is fantastic to see what these Albion fans are doing. However, are the scores of Manchester United and Manchester City fans across the country taking notice? Of course not, but much of the means of bringing success to these clubs is what is killing those who are still football clubs, not franchises, and whether Argyle fall or not, worst is yet to come I fear.
Agree with your sentiments, they are in a sorry situation and have been now for some time. I will try and get my Man U supporting mate at Uni to come along (don't think he has ever actually been to a Man U game...and he comes from London...lol). If anyone can make it down it would be great to see a few more saints badges supporting the cause. I know there are a good number of saints supporters around Plymouth because the FA cup game against Man U last year there was a room full of us in the Union! Green Army! Oh and good luck at Uni MLRA, first year? Got in before the fees go up
Props to you guys for going (or trying to) make sure you wear you're saints shirts on the day. todays game i'm led to belive they had, a few brighton fans / stoke / brummie all backing plymouth. the cause is starting to pick up pace now, with facebook groups. and starting to reach other clubs boards.
Ahah the old cockney mancs. I actually (with a mate) have converted a manc to Saints recently! Took a few games though. And thank you very much, I am not familiar with Portswood and Swaythling, so good luck is indeed needed (if worse comes to worse I'll bus it down to the comfort of city centre/St Marys area pubs). First year it is, and yep I'm lucky as I wouldn't have gone with the inflated fees. It has been one long summer, so good to get started soon!
Those pesky Mancs get everywhere! Glad to see you converted one haha after all we are clearly far superior to Man U! I will convert my niece into a Saint when she's old enough (her dad is a Pompey). Yeah at least some parts are familiar, can be daunting living in an entirely new City but I'm sure you will settle alright (Plus you will live closer to St Marys and even better you have a student loan to pay for the tickets ). First year is great, all you need is 40% to make it to 2nd year when the work actually counts towards the degree! P.s. I know how you feel, I have been on Summer Hols since the end of May haha!
Being closer to Saints obviously wasn't a deciding factor in what Uni to go for.... Yeah, it is still like going to a new city, as I once (til about 10) lived in Hedge End, and work inSainsburys part time there now (yawn) and I know the city as I am always over for whatever reason, but the Uni is entirely different. Bitterne, Woolston, Sholing, City Centre, St Marys and Northam I know like the back of my hand, but little else. And good luck on that neice, I got Pompey supporting relatives (but they married into the family, somehow...), not great. And indeed I think Freshers fortnight at the least may get a bit...messy.
Haha, any good tips? (hint towards drinknig places). Im in South Hill Halls accommodation, any idea what thats like community wise?
Yeah it's pretty much the main student area so you won't have any trouble finding places or people, it's right next to uni so you can just roll out of bed at 8.50, happy days. I live down in Shirley so I don't get up there much but I assume they just all trot down to Jesters most nights. I usually end up around town or Bedford Place but that's just me, Portswood is a bit minging a lot of the time.
