Fellow Saints fans. Times are hard, but for some it's like they were not expecting them to be. We have played the top 3 teams of last season, and people are up in arms that we haven't gotten a win. A lot of yesterday's supporters, though praised by Adkins afterwards were a disgrace. They gave up after the 2nd goal. They instead turned their attention to the Arsenal fans to shout abuse, and moan and throw a tandtrum - the sort such that you see at many away grounds. I wasn't expecting to see racist abuse shouted though from the Saints end. Though I suppose this happens within the confines of each club support. Disappointing showing, and not something that's often seen down St. Mary's.

Southampton has more than a fair share of chavs "oooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

That's the most I've ever heard Arsenal sing anyway.

Adkins praised the fans for sticking with the team on a bad day...glad to hear that. No room for racism though, but every team has a few.

I was there with my 12 year old son and the lads behind us were a disgrace . In between snorting cocaine they made time to abuse every saints player on the pitch . Shouts of C'mon Lallana you lazy C**t were some of the milder comments made . They then left 15 minutes before the end to ambush some " Gooner C**ts " !

We have been to away games at various league 1 & championship grounds and I've never seen/heard anything like it from our own supporters .

Have I just been lucky on my previous travels or is this a common occurrence ?

I think it is part of the Prem League package.I have been to many away games including places like Leeds & rival fans happily chatted & mingled but get back to the Prem league & the hatred & bile from some sections is palpable. It was the same before our relegation too & people mock the football league but at least there is civility.

If fans are seriously offensive, you should note their seat numbers and report them to the club. I suspect they are not real fans, but people who have tagged on to our PL status to look for trouble.
