According to yesterday's Herald the fans trust had a meeting with Ridsdale but I've not heard anything on what was said, questions answered if any or diddle squat actually. Does anyone know if anyone came out of the meeting any wiser?
There was an old bloke at the back who got the answer to 4 down in his crossword from the bloke sat next to him. When was this meeting supposed to have taken place as the report is that Ridsdale is in Americal talking to people. Hope one of them is Bill Gates. The only consistant thing I have seen so far is that Ridsdale has been "open and honest" with his dealings with the fans. Whether this be the Trust, Senior Greens or others. Well, that is the way it is reported and the feedback so I can't question it's truth.
They met Guilfoyle didn't they ?...........check.....NEWSNOW.......article entitled,,,,,,,offshore company behind.....etc....etc..........small comment down a bit.
I said I wouldn't have a go at him as long as PAFC survived, but I do feel honour bound to point out he said ""This is not a transaction that I sought or contemplated but, if it is the only route to guarantee a future for Plymouth Argyle Football Club, it is a route that I am prepared to take." Yes Peter, of course you didn't. We're willing to go along with this in the hope the club prospers but please don't treat us as imbeciles. Has anyone seen the episode of Yes Minister in which Hacker becomes the leader of his party after repeatedly saying he has no ambitions in that direction, but if he was to be asked to serve he'd would have to put his own wishes aside in the interests of the country and his party............?
n D G.....Ridsdale is innocent over this, give him a chance. Fans Trust met with Guilfoyle mentioning their concerns.............check earlier comments on this thread.
Oh and PS [or DS]: Given a choice between: 1) someone who just bumbled into owning a football club without planning it or even wanting it and 2) someone who knew exactly what he wanted and had the wherewithal to go out and get it I'd choose the latter every time, so I'm not quite clear why he's pretending he didn't intend this to happen. To say otherwise diminishes his own abilities and disrespects the club at the same time when you think about it. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt Plymborn but I didn't come down with the last shower as regards remarks like the one I quoted.
And PPS or DDS, and a very uncomfortable thought for all of us - it's pretty clear that most of the bidders regard the football club as a liability which is awkwardly in the way of the property deals. Anyone close to what's going on might have twigged that as the administrator is only concerned with paying the creditors as much as he can, it might be getting to the situation whereby the consortium deliberately or accidentally sticks 2 fingers up to the Football League and engineers a situation in which the club goes under and they get the property deals without the club. That same close to the action person might then jet off in search of another bid............
I thought the Administrators job was to do just that, get the best deal for the creditors and find a buyer. Until proven guilty I will not condemn Ridsdale............It's hard to see where PAFC would be without Ridsdale at present, possibly up the swanee without a paddle, and down the local Rec to play as.......Plymouth (2011) Rovers........or...........United........or.........town..........or whatever you want to call them.
I cannot see the point in looking too closely at what Ridsdale does or does not intend, how he got here or his motives for doing so. We don't know any of the whys and wherefores of any of it other than the line various parties want to feed us. The same applies to the secret bidders. We guess they have one eye on developing around the ground and that would be pretty obvious to a blind parrot. The rest of the details are shrouded in mystery and that is just the way they want to play everything. We have no idea if this bid will go through or what tangled web will be created if it does. We don't know for sure that there is anyone else waiting in the wings to mount a surprise attack on the bidding. I have heard of Ridsdale and "some American consortium" mentioned previously. Wasn't it a Cardiff fan who mentioned this and they were still waiting for it to happen. Be honest guys and gals, we have been fed all sorts of stuff. Some of it might come true and a lot might just turn out to be a load of old baloney. When the final die is cast we will know what we are getting. It could yet be liquidation, a thought I'd rather not have, or it could be saving with various downers or uppers attached. I seriously cannot be doing with all of this right now pondering the enth degree of possibility. My head will continue with the we will be saved thought until informed otherwise or confirmation of that is made.
James Brent's bid had no strings attached,.......just concern for his part of the world,......Plymouth needing a football club,Devon and the south west peninsular.
So James Brent just wanted to give Argyle a load of cash to bail them out and there was nothing in it for him like building something??? Come on, everyone has an angle unless they are so rich it doesn't matter to them. Nobody but nobody is going to invest in Plymouth Argyle in the basement league with nothing but debt to offer with no strings attached to it. Well he might I suppose but I have grave doubts falling short of calling him a complete liar.
He did say that he wouldn't be building,....may be .........may be not........it's water under the bridge now.
Well it may not be plymborn. If this bid falls through and he has stated his desire to see a football club in this City then who is to say it would not resurface again at the eleventh hour. If he doesn't resurface then I guess we will never know. Given the supposed reservations people in the know are hinting at then maybe the last roll of the dice hasn't taken place just yet though. That is why I've consistantly been saying I will just sit back and wait and see throughout this farce or saga depending on your view.
Thats why Ridsdales went to New York, seeing if there is still some interest from the previous contact..........incase the irish go belly up and Guilfoyle has to start again.
Cheer up your going to make me depressed and then I go into sarcasm mode........It aint a pretty site......beware.
Actually, given who we are and where we are you would think there would be plenty of interest in the "New World" for us Pilgrims wouldn't you. They still owe us for the sheep and chickens we provided before they set sail. With interest that must add up to a few million after several hundred years. Any nationality that can go to the Barbican and enthuse about a few bloody steps must be daft enough to chuck us a few quid or dollars. The steps are like Trigger's broom in Only fools and horses. They are the originals but have only been repaired a couple hundred times.
Don't forget the pilgrims only pulled into Plymouth for repairs.....we might owe Boston some of that.thats were they started from.
Yeah we can´t be held responsible for the Yanks too, we have enough to be concerned about. Though a couple of well placed shots from the Citadel and the World could have been a much quieter place!! Sensible has got it spot on nothing we can do at the moment but keep the faith and hope someone stands up so we have a side to field come start of season, whoever and for whatever reason is a moot point. Even a point deduction is starting to seem acceptable as long as we are still in business. Just the damn duplicity that is grating on me.
