QPR1st has been informed that a written request has been received by the secretary of the Official Supporters Club undersigned by thirty members calling on the Club to call an Extraordinary General Meeting, as per section 3.8 of the Queens Park Rangers Official Supporters Club Constitution and Rules. The OSC is now consulting with the Club as to how such a meeting could take place. This raises the prospect of the Club hosting a meeting which potentially hundreds or thousands of disgruntled QPR season ticket holders would have an entitlement to attend, and which we are confident the OSC will ensure is held at a time most suitable for its members. QPR1st would of course welcome the Club arranging such an event and will use such a meeting to call for a 'one member one vote' system of electing the OSC Committee, as well as to challenge the Club's decision to end direct consultation with independent fans groups. Nevertheless we can not help but suspect that if the OSC was to have a Committee democratically elected by season ticket holders, then the OSC would very quickly join the LSA and QPR1st on the Club's ever increasing list of persona non grata.
That last paragraph is the most telling there. The OSC is (or should be) the fan's voice inside the club, and the club's voice inside the fan-base. Whatever is done, and however this plays out, we must make sure that there's always an accepted, official channel for communicating with the club. The OSC is this channel. LSa and QPR1st have, with the best of intentions and unintentionally, alienated themselves from the owners and reduced their ability to get the fan's voices heard. It's important that the other fan organisations don't do that, else there's no way that anyone with a question, a grievance, or a viewpoint will be listened to.
Good choice of venue kiwi... saves you half the journey to LR! They'll probably make it the day after the Bahrain GP (free tickets for Rs fans?) with arresting opportunities for protesters. All fits nicely!
Aaaaaah alright. I remember that. Bit embarassing that I didn't even realise. Hopefully this can go ahead. There was a protest planned for last weekend on facebook which failed but this, if it goes ahead could be excellent.
Willy it was one of those group things which had about 300 attending which for starters wasn't enough and then a grand total of ten actually went. You didnt miss anything.
