Slightly inspired by another thread (tips hat to Tash).... have you ever come into contact with any famous Toon players or indeed famous footballers in general and what did you do/say (or did you freeze!)?

If there are any exceptional 'famous person/celeb' type tales please also feel free to regale us with your experiences.

I once shared a flight to Malaga with one John Barnes. Unfortunately I was too young to really appreciate the fact that he was John Barnes. Still got his autograph somewhere though!

Sat in a pub called the Stateside in Consett watching a dodgy Toon feed with a mate and.... Sat next to me was Supermac. The week before he had blasted me on air for signing Nicky Butt, claiming that he would take us back years. I pointed this out to him and he said 'well let's just see how he gets on today then'...
I sat smugly watching the game, having the odd natter and then... When Butt had a stinker I conceded he (MM) was right.
He was drinking lime and soda that afternoon too (recovering plonkey)

Shook hands with Super Mac at the new bar 1892 run by Steve Wraith, and also Tino in the same pub.

Also I went to a meeting in a small club and talked to Beresford.

HBA last year. Said well done for a great goal at Everton the previous weekend and slapped him on the back so hard he stumbled forward and gasped for air. Damn adrenalin.

Damn you ACS... I just spent at least five minutes of my life writing out that story on Tash's thread...

Anyway, lucky for you I have more... You know the fat one from "The Real Hustle"... Me and my brother walked past him in Braehead shopping centre... I got a pat on my shoulder and a point at him, to which I went "huh? wow" and then walked on. That special place was again vacant as my brother went pelting up the escalator stairs for a snap. Apparently a very nice chap.

We saw him head into Games Workshop... We shared a silent nod at the coolness of this (though he was probably casing the joint), seeing as my brother and I were both cool back then...

    And VERY VERY single.

Oh and not really relevant, but DT's mum rushed out to the local shop and jumped infront of Peter Beardsley's car and asked for an autograph for me (it's his local too, though I've never seen him in there... not that I'm a stalker)... It was a scrap of (very high quality) paper which wished me well in my exams. That was nice (even if she lied and just wrote it herself) <ok>

Pedro and his son used to go to Woolies on Clayton St in days gone by, and used to fill up bags of pick your own sweets (think that's what they were called) to sit and eat while watching TV. Just an ordinary guy with no airs or graces, out with his son and planning a night at home.

Often saw Supermac out clubbing and got a story to tell about him but I wont.

Ever get the feeling Not606 is a bit like Loose Women, but for men (and cool girls)?

Heard of Loose Women but not a TV watcher. Only have the box on for footy.

No gossip shall pass my lips however.

Unless you really want to know.

Haven't met any Toon players before. Once sat in TGI Fridays in Covent Garden and saw Les Ferdinand and Ian Wright across the bar. They were laughing at a lad my mate was friends with from Doncaster - he had the Beckham highlighted curtains haircut, so was well deserving of the ridicule.

I went to junior high school with Nelly Furtado (I'm from Canada), but didn't have any classes with her - her brother was in my math class. I just remember her being a teachers pet - was in the school band, on the student council and always made announcements over the PA at the end of school.

Yeah, turns out being a teachers pet worked out for her and being an underachiever didn't really work out for me!!

That's right, you can tell that I haven't got a sweet tooth.

Would have given you some Pick 'n' Mix rep but I have the same problem as you.
