What a poor career move that lad has made. Leaving La Liga for France. Money talks and Russian money talks loud.
I'm gobsmacked about this. If he went to a proper club, he could have pushed on to be one of the worlds elite players. He may have just ruined all that now.
It's an out to Real Madrid. Athletic wont sell direct so the press say this is the only way it can happen.
Monaco were in the CL final just 10 years ago Monaco is a tax haven and a great place to live (seemingly, i wouldnt know obviously) Monaco have spent €110 million in 2 weeks on 3 players, they must mean business. FFP is buggered though if they win the league, not sure how they would be allowed into Europe (but i bet they will be) Newcastles French legion will be kicking themselves, French league looks on the up with PSG and Monaco splashing the cash, and they went to the toon. Man U/Barca done it with Youth and cash, Man City/Chelsea/Real and now PSG/Monaco with a lot of cash but maybe some youth in there as well. But everyone spends cash even Bayern and Dortmand spent cash to get where they are. The cash aspect is not good for the game but the players not going to all the same clubs has to be a good thing for European Competiition, and just football in general, yes we may say money grabbing bastards, but they would have got the same if not more at one of the top clubs anyway. (just wish we could get 1 or 2 of them lol) so why not go to a project in the making, rather than a project thats been there and done it all before.
Pretty much sums it up for me. Seems an odd move at first glance but monaco clearly mean business and he could obviously get just as much from the city's, barca's, and chelsea's of this world so fair play to him imo.
The laugh is they'll not be one French player in that side because the French FA have stated all French players must pay tax if he play in league 1.
Bit unfair on Dortmund, Steve! They haven't spent much at all, getting to the champions league final was sensational for then.
Dortmunds entire squad cost £21.5m …can barely say they spashed the cash the combined fees of Fletcher and Johnson excel the price of their team...
k i was wrong about dortmund but they do have pedigree as well, they won the CL in 97 (i think it was about then), If Newcastle are huge just because they were in Europe, then surely if you win it you are humungous (sarcasm intented lol but you get my point i hope), they have probably been there or there abouts in the league over the past 10 seasons (i havnt checked this though) so its not like they are a Hull or even Sunderland to an extent.
Just had a quick look, i would say Dortmand was a cross between Arsenal and Liverpool, most years top 4 some 6th and 1 or 2 10th/11, and Arsenal havnt spent much cash either, They are definately bigger and better than us and most of Europe. (its not like they were rubbish and got to the final after spending a pittance.
