The half time Fair Play league table has been published - we're 7th. However 4 of those above us are likely to qualify for Europe by the normal routes, so will we be looking at another early start? Here is the table - http://www.fulhamfc.com/Club/News/NewsArticles/2012/January/FairPlayUpdate.aspx Given expectations for the second half of the season, we should certainly improve on the 'positive play' category. Good plug by the club for the fans - again (remember the thanks for the ground being 98% capacity). Of course we could fulfill those expectations and qualify in our own right. COYW
Good to see us high up in the fans' league, but why are Liverpool just behind us? I know it's not representative of their entire fanbase but surely the recent goings on with that racist fan has got to take it's toll?
Do we want another European adventure? You could argue that we have fared much better this season without it.
I'd prefer not to have the distraction of European football next season. Get the ship settled for another season before looking towards another European adventure.
Much as I did not get to travel in the recent campaign, I've got to agree that a summer without the EL would be good for the club's development under MJ. However, qualifying in 2012/13 for 2013/14 would be perfect (not that I'm asking too much!!- Chutzpah??) C O Y W
I'd be happy to be in Europe next season, but let's do it through league position or winning the FA Cup. That way we don't get such an early start AND we get the fun of Europe - the best of both worlds. And to answer your question, Bidley, yes. The top three leagues in the European table earn an extra place for one of their sides, and if England is one of those three, that place goes to the highest place team in the fair play table who hasn't already qualified. As things stand, Swansea and Roy's boys are ahead of us - in Swansea's case, ahead with quite a considerable lead.
I'd like to get in from our position in the league or cup win too. It was great to play in the EL this season but it seemed rather false IMO.
I don't know about seeming false, Craving. If the rules let someone in through that route, so be it. I'd just rather avoid another June start.
False wasn't the right word. I feel it would be better on footballing merit than fair play. Having said that it was a great experience for the younger players who played in a few games.
And, given that come the summer Jol should have a more rounded caucus of players and a fuller understanding of each one, an opportunity for him to field more 'second string' and younger players in early rounds. As Woy did. Mind it could play havoc with my planned Olympic visits.
