So....we all are familiar with the term 'glory hunter' but what if a person supports a team from a town/city he doesnt come from and they dont win anything? Are they a failure hunter? lol. Its the question of questions tbh people.
Well that depends. If you support a club like Leeds and you aren't from Leeds, I would say you are a failure hunter. If you support a club like Liverpool and you aren't from Liverpool, I would say you are just an exceptionally bad glory hunter.
Well, that's assuming every football fan selects the team they support based on their trophies, or lack thereof. I'm not from Liverpool, but when I started supporting them I was about 4/5 years old and had no grasp of how football worked beyond the pitch itself. None of my family are really Liverpool fans either. My uncle is a very casual fan, and it was him who bought me my first LFC kit (the reason I started supporting them.) One guy I know started supporting Leicester because at the time they were a midtable PL side and he wanted to support a team who didn't win everything. And, to be fair to him, he still supports them today. I imagine that's quite rare though, and a lot of people who don't support their local team probably support them team they do because of their family, or maybe even a player they like. (btw, I'm only here cos UiR linked it on the L'pool board)
