Jose Mourinho has donated his Ballon D'Or Trophy to be auctioned, to raise funds for the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Charity. Stunning gesture, which only goes to show the esteem in which Sir Bobby was held, in the world of football.

Any pointers as to how much this could fetch at auction?

Great gesture, I've always liked Mourinho but even so he has gained even more respect from me. Didn't Sir Bobby teach him and Villa-Boas everything they know in terms of football management. Hopefully it will raise a canny bit.

Top man. I am under the impression that Sir Bobby tried to bring him to St James to take over from him back in 2003/2004. Before he joined Chelsea apparently that wasnt the first offer he had from England. I believe that was us.

Unfortunately our board made one of the worst decisions they have ever made and cut all ties with Bobby so even tho Jose went to Chelsea, im sure Sir Bob could have found a replacement for himself....rather than f*cking Graeme asshole Souness.

Great gesture, and it's just a sign of Sir Bobby's legacy to football that two of the greatest managers in the game are where they are because of him.

Mourinho wasn't willing to be anyone's number 2 at that stage, even though he would have been moulded to be Sir Bobby's successor.

Brilliant gesture from Mourinho, for one of the true LEGENDS of the game. How the great man doesn't have atleast a stand named after him at St James' is a joke. Such a simple thing the board could do, to start building bridges with some of the fans.

They should do this with the East Stand.

Yet again, it'd feel wrong with all that new Sports Direct crap.

It wasn't to do with the board, it was because he couldn't wait for Bobby to quit...just imagine if he had

Never say never, maybe after leaving Real Madrid he'd fancy a bit of a challenge? :D

Assuming Pardew isn't the next Alex Ferguson...

I wouldn't complain at that <yikes> When Fergie brought in Cantona (French midfielder) his future started looking good with Man U, Pardew brings in Cabaye (French Midfielder) and we start really well, coincidence? <whistle>

Great gesture wonder how much it goes for? Just having a look through all the auction pieces quite disgraceful Newcastle as a club havn't offered anything! A couple of tickets and watching a training session would of been enough.

If anyone fancies a look through.
