http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter...cept-citys-place-in-footballs-pecking-order/? Bursting with pride!
Was going to post link to that myself GG but you beat me to it. I wonder how long it will take Warky and co to come on here to try and poo-poo that
Ok first post back, here we go. TBH, thats exactly what you should be doing, sensible transfer policy in my opinion and one i would hope that if we were lucky enough to be in your position that we would do.
oh, guru, you're back. when did that happen?! i've given you the benefit of the doubt mate and taken you off my 'ignore list' for the time being. i'm sure you're delighted by that news
Nothing to do with the fact that this post follows one from Guru, but I found it interesting how ECL 'poo-pood' the idea of club history being important to anything. (The fact he mentioned Everton, Swansea, Celtic and Ipsquit is irrelevant, it's the whole concept of "we were good back in...") To entice a player to join and give his all to your club, you have to sell a vision for the future, where you see the club in 1/3/5 years time, not bleat on about your Jimmy Armfields and Stan Mortensens etc. However good they were, they'll have no bearing on what happens to your club tomorrow or the week after
Can't add anything to that. History is history and all we can do is look to the future by having a sensible transfer policy to entice better players to join our ranks and give their all for the club and maybe one day start 'flirting' with the top half of the PL rather than the bottom half!!
Cheers supers, It only becomes an issue to me when the said club hasn't got a history to shout about! Whats happening with the redmond deal btw? good little player, would probably only have cameo appearances for you guys next year, but defo one for the future.
And another 'Fabulous Article' - this time from the Metro on why RvW has madse a smart move in joining the Canaries - http://metro.co.uk/2013/07/03/linke...-for-ambitious-ricky-van-wolfswinkel-3866339/ Two quotes from the article I particularly enjoyed - "Clearly Chris Hughton and David McNally are men on a mission right now" and "Exciting times to be a City fan."
as far as i know redmond is done - just waiting for confirmation from the club which i suppose will be some time today, probably along with carlo nash. redmond is certainly one for the future but i think he'll play quite a bit - hughton played him a lot when he was just 17/18 and appears to have faith in him, just as redmond does in hughton. pilkington is a good player but he does have a tendency to miss games with knocks. redmond won't waltz straight into the starting XI (or at least i don't think he will) but i wouldn't be surprised to see him involved in one way or another in most of our games next season. he can play either wing so if snodgrass gets a knock or is struggling for form he can come in for him too. it's certainly a good fee for him when compared to similar deals doing the rounds at the moment. i really didn't think we'd get him so i'm very pleased.
Assuming we do sign Redmond, Superjamas, where do you suppose that leaves Andrew Surman in Hughton's plans?
I like Surman a lot as a squad player. He was very unfortunate last season with injuries and I think he offers something slightly different in the middle of the park. When I've watched him, he seems to have good technique and he's still a good age (26 I believe).
tricky one. i'm a surman fan - i don't like him out wide, i prefer him in the middle. he's a good link man, his passing is always crisp, he's versatile too and can score goals. had injury issues last season and became 'the forgotten man' in many ways. he's not a hughton signing and due to injuries we don't know how he rates him but i'd keep him. i think he's useful
´gorlestongirl´or ´Maid in Ely´ Which is it now to be, Hope that your move went smoothly and freely And you´re settled far from the sea
