Its strange how that always works. I am sure he will score or assist more in what remains of the season but the undisputed fact is that he is wildly inconsistent, brilliant for 6 months and terrible for the next 6 months. Medical reasons possibly?

I'm glad I'm not one of those who was having a dicky fit when Wenger turned down the chance to re-sign "Half a Season Fab" <whistle>

I still think he's amazing. I imagine it's mostly just shame that's making him play badly.

I think it probably is a physical thing, maybe his body can't keep up for the whole year.

I certainly remember one or two using it as another reason to slate Wenger, because he didn't re-sign Fabregas.

Would those who slated Wenger for not re-signing Fabregas, swap Ozil for Fabregas ?

They are two brilliant players. I don't think Fabregas has necessarily slowed down but I do think Chelsea's strikers have. Costa does not look as dangerous. I don't think Arsenal ever needed Fabregas though as Ozil offers the same in terms of creativity and has more pace.

I don't think most people were ever arguing Ozil or Fabregas, but wanted Fabregas in the team with Ozil as well. If it was me, I'd still have signed Fabregas, his early form would have been tremendous for us, which is when we were struggling. And even now as good as Ozil has been, he's still not reached the Fabregas first half season form.

Now in terms of midfield and who Fabregas could have definitely replaced, someone who was playing a lot during the start of the season in the number 10 role, was none other than Jack Wilshere, and Fabregas over Wilshere any day of the damn week, even an off form **** Fabregas....How much better would we have been if we started the season with Fabregas in midfield rather than Wilshere? I don't think it's a stretch to say much better. So I still maintain the same position, we had the chance to re-sign Fabregas, and I would have taken it because I think, heck I know and all stats prove it, is that Fabregas is a much better player than Wilshere is, and a much better player than Wilshere will ever be. Fabregas would have also been ahead of Rosicky, who I love btw....So it was never either Ozil or Fabregas.

I'd never pass up the chance to sign a world class player. I'd snap him up even if it meant losing a good player who I loved. Fabregas loves Arsenal and knows the league inside out, I'm still gutted we didn't go for him.

I've said it before and I'll say it again.Fabregas loves Arsenal so much that is why he sulked like a petulant child to force a move away from us.He only fell in "love" with us again when Barca decided he wasn't good enough for them.

You can love two things at once. I can fully understand him wanting to go to Barca, I can also appreciate that he realised he's made an error and that the grass isn't always greener. It's a moot point anyway.

I'm sorry matey but it isn't a moot point to me.Fabregas showed a total lack of respect to the club, management, his fellow teammates and most of all to the fans.

I thought it was very poor that on the last day of the 2010/11 season, he went to watch the Spanish Grand Prix rather than attend our final game of the season against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Didn't show strong captain qualities there.

For the record, I do believe he did love Arsenal, but Barcelona was his dream move and when you have an opportunity like that, you'd do anything you can to make it happen even if it's a remote possibility. That's why he was willing to part-fund the transfer using a bit of his own money.

Not saying I agree with how he dealt with the whole situation, but I do sympathise to a degree.

Truer words have never been spoken. He thought the grass was greener, and yet he didn't stay on the grass long enough to find out.

I would still take Fabregas, he is a top world class player and would add more to our squad. But do we need him now? It appears that we're shaping up well as a team now, with Cazorla and Ozil starting to play well now. May we continue to improve and the Sanchez-Cazorla-Ozil partnership start to flourish. <ok>

I wanted us to re-sign him, partly because he is a world class player, partly because I didn't want to see him sign for a rival and partly because he played for us before (and I believe he does still love the club, even though I agree that he was a **** at the end when he forced a move)

But I'm not so sure we needed him as much as we wanted him.

I actually meant it's a moot point in that he's at Chelsea and the chance has gone, not whether or not he genuinely likes us/regrets his decision. People f*ck up all the time and make bad calls, I won't hold him to ransom over it but I can understand why some people get so upset... I just don't agree.
