Has joined Swansea... weird one that but best of luck to him. BBC is saying it means Vorm will go to Liverpool to be reunited with Rodgers but I can't see him replacing Mignolet and would have to cost a bit as he's a couple of years left on his contract. Hell, if he's content to be a no.2 at a club I'd take him!

Whats your honest take on our new keeper Fabianski, peeps?

Of late he seems to have been good with decent stats, but you have seen him more than me.

Jack Bastard in peace....and congrats on the Cup <ok>

Good luck Fab, he has really developed into a fine keeper. Still prone to the odd flappy moment ... the FA cup final, he got away with that one ... but I wish him all the best and thanks for everything he did for Arsenal. Fitting way to leave the club helping to get us to the final and win it.

Must be something in the way we coach keepers. Chesney likes to go running after the ball sometimes when he shouldn't and Lehmann did it as well

He's a really decent keeper and has improved loads in the last couple of seasons. He got a lot of stick from some sections of Arsenal fans and for a while there was always a 'flappy' moment in each game he played, but he's ironed out a lot of his mistakes and is a great shot stopper. I think he needs to work on his crosses when coming for the ball and he can have a rush of blood to the head and come for balls when he should stay put, but overall I'd say you've got a very good keeper.

What's the situation with Vorm ?

I think it's something all keepers like to think they can do well, but few can. Chesney has ironed this part of his game out and now knows when to stay put. I think the coaching staff probably had to beat it out of him, rather than encourage it.

    Nice one :)
Rumour mill has been turning for some time. For his first 18 months the guy was even outstarring Michu... until he got injured around Xmas.
He never quite looked as assured since, but still won us more points than any other player with his clean sheets and saves. He has really good distribution, great reflexes and is very quick...but not great with crosses (possibly because of his relative lack of height).
Last season was a let down. Poor save ratio but not always his fault.
The Liverpool link has been around even before the press got a whiff. 30 yr old and potentially in his prime. Quandry is, do we risk selling him now or hold on til after the World Cup where he may or may not play. If he has a stinker, then I can see us offloading the older Tremmle instead (the popular decision for the majority of Jacks).

I can see the Liverpool thing working as Brenda likes to use a keeper as almost an outfield player in posession and Mignolet has proven to be not fantastic in that role last year, and Vorm has skills and composure in abundance there.

Won't be that sorry to see Vorm go after last season as he hasn't been the same since his injury imo. Fabianski has said he's come to us to play in the number one position and I'm guessing he knows Vorm is off.

Fabianski has mistakes in him but not many keepers don't, and as has rightly been pointed out he's improved at Arsenal. Looks like a decent deal for us.

He's a great signing for you. He's too good to sit on the bench and I think regular football will only improve him further.

...or he could turn sh*te, what do I know?!

I don't think it is something you could ever coach out of a goalkeeper.Even the best goalkeepers have s rush of blood to the head, look at Casillas in the CL final last week.

Fabianski will cost you goals. Don't forget that we'd all be singing a different tune if he hadn't been let off the hook at the end of the FA Cup Final when he inexplicably ran out of goal for a ball he was never going to get and almost cost us the lead.

Yeah he cost us LOADS of goals on the way to that final didnt he ?

You ignore the fact that Fabs fantastic saves in the penalty shootout GOT US to that final.

He is a VERY good keeper .

Hope he does really well at Swansea .

Exactly , people dont seem to realise that they have to make a split second decision to stay or come out.

If they run out , 9 times out of 10 it will put the striker off enough for him to miss the shot anyway , but people look at it and say " what the hell was he doing , the striker almost scored "..

    Exactly ...ALMOST scored.

the keeper coming out made him rush it and he missed , what he was doing was stopping the goal being scored , thats his job.

The counter arguement , if he stay on his line , the striker has time to pick exactly where he wants to put it.

    To me thats more dangerous

Fabianski is a good keeper - great reflexes, good distribution. What he isn't, is commanding of his area. That is why Chesney is No1 at Arsenal - he's tall and he shouts. Fabs sadly lacks that, but in all other aspects he's a very good keeper.

wish him the best. he deserves to be a number 1.
like all keepers he has his mad moments, and every error for a keeper normally results in a goal. other players can make errors but they don't get punished for it as much as it doesn't mean a goal has been conceded. if Giroud misses a sitter then he may get another chance, if keeper misses a shot we have let in a goal. its not fair and probably explains why they are all a bit mental

Thanks - seems to confirm what I've seen of him on TV. You could have been describing Vorm.

Does it look like Arsen is getting ready to go for the top spot next season?

And he nearly cracked when it really mattered.

That's why he's nicknamed Flappy, and that's why he was the No.2 keeper and not the No.1. Don't forget that fact.

    fixed.

    <ok>

Ramsey had about 18 months of poor form , but we judge players on how they are NOW , not last season or the season before.

If we judged all Arsenal staff on their performance over the last decade............

we know where that would lead dont we..........

People were still referring to him as Flappy on here right before the Cup Final, dude.

SOME people , then SOME people recognised how much he has improved.

Dont wanna argue about it , i accept that he was very flaky in the past , but the lad has come on leaps and bounds, you have to take that into consideration .

Confidence is essential in a keeper , he seems to have got his mojo back.
    <ok>
Im sorry he has decided to leave , he was certainly good enough to be no 2 keeper .
