Canny few lads on X are hammering him of late. Same lads who perhaps have been ****ing off at some of his superb defensive performances or striker level goals. For what we paid he’s one of the best pound for pound signings of the last few decades.
He didn't have a good game on Monday. But most of our team didn't. Half of them are either carrying injuries or worried about getting another one. He's a brilliant value for money player, but no, he didn't score or get assists on Monday.
He has his weaknesses (mainly lack of pace and occasionally woefully overestimating his ability to hit accurate long passes) but until we get better he is the best player we have for that position. He also has a far better eye for goal than any of our other defenders. We do need to address the serious lack of pace in our defence this Summer.
We all said he needed upgrading in the summer, instead we bought an awesome right back who's always on the bench.
