Dont know if anyone has gone tonight but listening to the match on CAFC Player, Charlton have just won 1-0 with a free kick from Oliver Muldoon in injury time, be interesting to hear from those who went but by the sound of things it was fully deserved.

Manchester United up next at Old Trafford in the Quarter Finals

And what a free-kick it was, I said to Johnnie Jackson that it reminded me of one of his ;-) It was pretty much us on top first half, think they underestimated us and in the second half they came out fighting and could have won it. But then again we had a couple of good chances.

I'm just pleased it did not go into extra time.....

THe draw is made early but date is set between clubs when the two teams are known so my guess is that we will be contacting Manure today. I think McGinty is in his last year of U18 football up at MU

I sat next to AHLL last night and as soon as Muldoon came on he started telling me about his free-kicks. When we were awarded the free-kick in the last minute of stoppage time he said "This is just about the right range for one of Muldoon's free-kicks"
    AHLL knows!
A special mention to Tariq Holmes who worked like a Trojan, and played the last 10 minutes with cramp. due to all our subs having been used.

The Club really can't organise a piss up in a brewery can they!!

    1) Stewards tried to make everybody sit in seat number on ticket when there were 1,371 in the Lower West Stand which holds what? 4,000? I just stood with FHB until KO and we sat in seats near halfway line.
    2) All the local street parking bays were suspended for the match....why??..... there is never more than 2,000 for a U18 game at the Valley.
    3) They kept the car park closed???? What were they expecting a crowd of 20,000??
    4) The ground is all seater yet the Tottenham fans stood all game! If we did that for a league game we'd be outa the ground as quick as yet the stewards did squit about it!

All in all I got the impression that the club didn't want to host the game at the Valley and made it as difficult as possible for the fans to get to the match. Why don't we just play all games at Welling at least they give you the impression that they want you in the ground!

I think you are being a little harsh on the club. My mate works there and he told me that they have to put in a traffic management plan in because if they don't none of the locals would get anywhere near their houses to park their cars due to those going to football. You have to have sufficient room for emergency vehicles to get down the roads and from memory a few years back there was a problem in Valiant House and the fire engine could not turn right at the bottom of Floyd Rd because cars were parked all over the place. The Fire Brigade had to bounce several cars out of the way.The west car park was open last night, from the Valley Grove end, and it was pretty full from what I saw.

Any idea why Harriots and Osbourne where on the bench? Would of thought they were "senior" U18s?

Because of the quality of their replacements. Harriott showed some tremendous flashes of skill when he came on.

So Harriott isn't in on merit? That sounds good for us, bad for him?

Osbourne was out with a serious injury. Lennon and Ajayi haven't done a lot wrong in his absence so it has been hard to win his place back.
Harriott had a "minor niggle" so didn't start.

We seem to have a fantastic amount of talent in that team. Pigott, Osborne, Harriott, Azeez, Ajayi, Sho-Silva and Cousins are already full-time professionals while Poyet is the captain of England u-17s. If you assume the average career of a professional footballer is eight years, clubs only need to bring through two youngsters a year into their first-team squad of 16 to maintain quality without resorting to buying. We seem to be a little ahead of the game.

A good result, I'm chuffed for the lads involved and the staff working with the kids.

However, once the predators from further up the food chain start circling this promising crop of youngsters their heads will be turned, and we'll be powerless to stop them being snatched away.

    So bloody depressing...!!

Quite a few of them are on contracts now, and Poyet will sign on his 17th birthday, so they won't go for peanuts.
