    Demolition derby

    Result:
    Newcastle U18s 4 mackems U18s 0

Newcastle took the lead just before half-time when Olley won back possession deep down United's left and released Aarons whose low centre across the six yard box was turned home by Jonathyn Quinn.

The lead was doubled ten minutes into the second period when Armstrong's deep cross from left and the goalkeeper fumbles, dropping it into the path of Quinn for an easy second from six yards.

Quinn completed his hat-trick after 73 minutes when Sterry burst into the right hand side of the box and flicked the ball infield for Quinn to fire home a low shot at the Gallowgate End.

It was 4-0 in the 83rd minute when a suicidal backpass from substitute Andrew Nelson was latched onto by Adam Armstrong who gleefully hammered home.

Team: Woodman, Sterry, Gillesphey (Drennan 78), Olley, McKinnon, Satka, Gilliead (Heardman 84), Kemen, Quinn (Barlaser 84), Armstrong, Aarons.
    Subs n/u: Pearson, Smith.

Armstrong is meant to be another 'next Rooney' according to something I read a few months back. It's a bit silly how many 'the next whathisnames' there are, but hopefully some of our young players can actually go some way to realising their potential.

I remember hearing about 'the next big thing' with a prolific scorer in the junior team by the name of Ranger.

    The important one!

Good game and the youngsters did themselves proud. No programme's or team sheets but our #8 looks very useful, got involved with almost everything. A hat-trick for our centre forward but it was a team performance and it wouldn't be right to single too many out.

    Pleased I went anyway.

Ha ha ha. The Mackems genuinely believe that is the case.
They probably think I'm GC Mackem too.

Sounds like you'll have to 'single out' all 11 for praise AB. Glad you had a good night. Must need a hot drink. <ok>

Apparently the Mackems have complained it was 4 dodgy ref decisions.
They also claim the Tooth Fairy and lord Lucan were in on it too.

The ref and the linesmen were much better than we get in the PL and should be promoted in front of some of the useless gets we've had recently.
