Gosport Borough manager Alex Pike has called Sunday's FA Trophy final against Cambridge United at Wembley a "David versus Goliath" task. However, Pike says he sees no reason why his side cannot cause an upset and lift the trophy. "What an enormous task it will be to play Cambridge at Wembley," Pike told BBC South Today. "I've labelled it a David versus Goliath-type game and we all know David can beat Goliath." Pike's team are 20th in Conference South and are underdogs against the side currently second in the Conference Premier. He has been to Wembley before, winning the FA Vase in 1992 with Wimborne Town aged 31, and is hoping to become the first man to win both non-league trophies. "Back in '92 it went all in a blur and I don't remember much because it was so long ago, but I'm determined to enjoy it and make the most of the experience," he said. "This is the top echelon of non-league football. Cambridge are going for promotion, they want to get back in the Football League and hopefully we can find any weakness in the armour. Fingers crossed they won't be at their best. "It's a game of football where we can't lose. We are playing at the new Wembley - the home of English football." I was a bit miffed when Gosport beat Havant & Waterlooville in the semi finals! But it really is a David v Goliath match as you say. This is the non-league equivalent of the FA Cup so it a bit like some-one like Doncaster or Yeovil reaching the FA Cup final and playing Arsenal. Good luck to them though - it's always nice to support the underdog.
