If ever more proof was needed, the last 24 hours has proved it.

I was horrified to hear a couple of hundred or so Chelsea fans booing and chanting over the minutes silence for 96 lives that were lost at Hillsborough as well as the Italian footballer who had tragically passed away and we as a club were rightly castigated by the media and rival fans and were quick to issue an apology. Whilst it's no excuse I'd like to point out it was only a couple of hundred out of 30,000 that didn't observe it and what the media didn't tell people was that there were many Chelsea fans that tried to stop the dissenters and were extremely distressed and embarrassed about the entire affair.

i'm not sure if your Everton mates/family have told you but yesterday United's away support once again took the opportunity to mock Hillsborough, whilst I appreciate all clubs have a minority of horrid fans this seems common theme with a large section of United's away support. From what I'm told this is common theme when playing Liverpool or Everton. United fans also chant obscene things about Pat Lampard (Frank Lampard's late mother) as well as Matthew Harding (RIP). When anything is said about Munich the media are quick to inform us about it. The continuous Hillsborough and Istanbul chants are conveniently ignored by the media. When will the FA actually start to take action against these offensive chants? It sends out the wrong message and when public feeling about football in general is at an all time low given the achievements of our Olympians it seems stupid to let this go unnoticed.

What action do you feel should be taken against offensive Hillsborough chants?

P.S Also I thought Sky (with the exception of Neville) were absolutely shocking with regards to coverage of the game last night. If I had close my eyes and plugged in my headphones I would have believed it was only United and RVP playing. There was almost no focus on Everton at all until Gary Neville intervened. Sky describing Everton beating United at home as a "major upset" also smacks of disrespect to Everton Football Club (who are a massive football club and had won more league titles than United pre-Sky era). Whilst United's record at Goodison is admittedly good they have only won at that ground once in the last 5 meetings. Sky's obsession with United never ceases to amaze me.

well i will only comment on how the ref let scholes way with tackle after tackle after giving a red card foul a yellow then the sky commentating team proceeded to big up the mazing utd side all game awaiting for the inevitable goal that funnily enough never game.

everton only did what to utd last year? hmmmmm..

still utd fans aren't the only ones with a bad little minority are they?

I'm not saying that but their minority are never made to be held accountable for their actions whereas other sets of fans are. If United were to issue an apology or take an aggressive stance against the chanting rather than sweep it under the carpet it would help.

if all clubs were do do the same it would help. if the olympic football wasn't tarnished by booing of several players and in particular suarez it might not just point to all of football being the same.

some utd fans sing certin things some lfc fans sing othe rthings noboy decent like it.

The reality is that Man United make Sky a lot of money in viewers, and will continue to do so.

Many people want to know about United, or Liverpool, or Arsenal etc - not who they're playing.

Everton are also a big club though. To not have them mentioned at all smacks of contempt. In no other sport would bias be so apparent.

  9. Not sure Chelsea would get the same as the others. Offence intended as clearly Chelsea are a big club nowadays but Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal have been massive names for decades <ok>

I got a text from a bluenose mate of mine at half time last night to say how disgusting it was and that it was the whole end and certainly not a minority. Totally unreported in todays media as usual. We as a club were quickly put under the spotlight last year when a couple of fans were accused of racist gestures as were Chelsea for the booing last season. On both occassions the issues were well highlighted and that's fair enough. As a seasoned follower of LFC home and away I can honestly say I've never heard any Munich chanting for twenty years although I have seen the occassional moron as I'm sure we all have. United fans were doing it at the bloody youth cup game last year (pretty much the whole end) so nothing surprises me.

As a club they do nothing and the FA will continue to let them do what they want so I'm past caring to be honest. It says all you need to know about them and reflects on their supporters alone.

Or the small matter that Chelseas fan base is 95% glory hunters considering they only started supporting them in 2005 <ok>

District line for example, in 2003 he was a spurs fan on the 606 boards. <ok>

From a mate of mine who was in the United end last night it was only a small minority so it depends on who you listen to I suppose.

Small minority or not though it's not acceptable.

I think that you are posing this question on the wrong board. Everybody here would denounce any chanting that related to tragedy even if it was coming from our own idiots. Now I believe that to be true for the vast majority of fans across the country. If it were not so then we would have been severely wummed on here when we asked for support for the e-petition - all we received was almost universal support.

As for the general media bias towards United then it is somewhat understandable. The media will always gravitate towards the popular. United have been the most successful club over the last 20 years ergo everybody must be inclined to support them. Conversely, Redmen tend to believe that they have adopted an anti-Liverpool approach towards us. So again, perhaps this is also better discussed with them.

    Totally unacceptable.

How it reflects on all United fans is like me saying every liverpool fan on this board is a **** because they have not banned a member for mocking munich. It is just stupid and only an idiot would call an entire set of supporters based on the idiotic actions of a few.

Perhaps the problem is the definition of a few. We all have idiots who associate themselves with our clubs. maybe it has become our responsibility to report them

Sorry Eric but my mate is in the Gladwys St and no way is he hearing chants from a small minority. I was at the youth cup game last year (a game attended predominently by families btw) as well as the league match and its always the same. The fact is you are united and you do what you want right?

You're right that's its not acceptable and not all United fans are that bad but your travelling support has been getting away with it for years. We were castigated on the national news for the actions of one fan so whether a small minority or the whole away end frankly makes no odds. The fact that it hasn't even got a mention from the media or FA and not a whiff of an apology from the club pretty much says everything you need to know on the subject.

If a report is made then its investigated as is always the case. Anyone can report it as long as they heard it and are willing to give a statement.

Even if you heard it on the TV you can make a complaint to SKY, Everton FC, Man Utd FC and the police <ok>
