Bet Carlisle won't be chuffed with the longest trip. Not a chance of being on tele with that one either.
I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT IN THE EARLY ROUNDS IT COULD BE DIVIDED INTO NORTH /SOUTH. TO SAVE THE TRAVELING.. AS THERE IS NOT A LOT OF MONEY TO BE MADE EARLY ON..
The thing about the FA Cup is that it is so into the unknown and you could end up with anyone. I just can't get excited about Cups and Argyle and I think that's due to our ineptitude for so many years in them. We hardly ever seem to cause a big upset even if we get drawn against a big un. We have been the subject of a killing ourselves a few times in more recent years. I know it's a cliche but I want promotion and cups are a distraction. Unless you have a great and long run in them of course. I do not want either in place of the former.
Just had a quick look at a Carlisle fans forum to see what they were saying about the draw. Not on not606 as their forum is as dead as a dodo on here. Anyway they aren't exactly chuffed with the thought but a few were saying we were a tad flattered with our previous 4 - 1 meeting down here early on. I seem to remember they might be right as they were far better than us for the first half and then somehow their wheels came off and we went bonkers. We have improved since then but so have they so can't see it being anything like that score again. Mind you we have a bit of a habit lately of being played off the park at home for most of a match and then grabbing a result out of nowhere. Don't think anyone should book any time off for the 2nd round proper just yet.
With a small squad, we don't want to end up in both the JPT and the FA Cup for too long. Quick exit from the JPT, Man U away in the FA Cup 3rd round losing narrowly will do me fine.
Taking into account that we have a relatively small squad.....the question comes to mind....have we got clearance to play our three loanees....Tanner, Boateng and Threlkeld in the FA Cup from their owner clubs ? Understandable that maybe their mother clubs would want to keep them from being Cup tied.....not so much because they might want to use them in the new year themselves, but because they might want them still available for a future loan to maybe a Div 1 club in the new year, so that they would be more advantageous to another club higher in the League pyramid to take on as a loan option with Cup availability still. Their home clubs might want them to continue learning at an higher level for the rest of this season......although it could be argued that were would they learn better than at a winning club such as PAFC for the rest of this season. If they are not given clearance from their owner clubs...that would significantly weaken our FA Cup chances of getting to the bigger more fanancially lucrative rounds of the competition.......Adams counts all matches as important, and I cannot see him wanting to experiment with fringe players in such an important competition......he wants to keep rolling on winning everything before him.....he wants his management ability to be recognized beyond PAFC.....but hopefully not just for a new job in the new year. Have we heard anything yet about Cup availability for his loanees......some of you more local might of heard something on the grapevine ?
No more news locally than you have Plym. Apart from I will be attending having secured my ticket. I don't think that the parent clubs will be champing at the bit to take their players back to loan out elsewhere. Why would they? They are doing nicely here, playing in a successful team and actualy playing when available to to so. Why would either the players themselves or their parent clubs want to upset that particular apple cart. So, the question of will they allow them to play balances on whether they themselves want them back to play in cup games for themselves. I would be surprised if any of them were in the plans of the respective managers right now so to take them back just for a couple of cup games would not suit anyone. The only other consideration is the "just in case" scenario. That's the only thing that might prompt clubs to say no in my opinion.
So.......can we negotiate new extended loans that do not cost us anymore than at present......it's to our benefit to keep them on.....but will the parent club expect a little more for the privilege.
I didn't realize that we had so much influence here on "not606plymouth"......no sooner than we ask the question....up pops the answer. Tanner, Boateng and Threlkeld have been given the ok to play in the FA Cup by their parent clubs.......could that be a little clue to them extending their stay at PAFC until the end of the season......we know that Tanner is keen to stay.....not sure about the other two.....but it is surely to their benefit to stay in a successful team.
All I know of the other two. that is Boetang and Threlkeld is Boetang had said he was really happy to be here and was enjoying his time. My comments above still stand and I've no reason to believe otherwise. It seems to make most sense all around and everyone is a winner. Would be surprised if the clubs didn't think the same.
Despite his comments about wanting to progress in both cups, I still hope he at least rests any player with a lingering injury i.e. Hartley - and also Carey if he's not 100% yet. This would give a few others some game time: McCormick Sawyer Threlkeld * Nelson Mellor Boateng McHugh * Wylde Harvey ~ Tanner ~ Brunt * Or the other way around ~ Or the other way around
