Hartlepool v Blyth Spartans: This looks a tasty tie for the FA Cup 2nd round...

Gateshead v Warrington....the Heed massive favourites for a 3rd Round tie. Would love to play us at St James in the 3rd round <if we beat Warrington>

Going back to the '50s Heed took on Liverpool at Redheugh and beat them well, drew them a few years later and moved to SJP for the bigger gate and lost easily.

Aye, the Heed even reached the quarter-finals back in the '50s. I went to Wembley in May for the play-off final and of course, the North East curse struck again and we lost. Would love to see a good cup run though.

A good cup run when league form is patchy is lifeblood to us supporters, cup ties and runs take on a life of their own with their unique win or bust outcome.

Our cup run last season helped lift the club and bond the players, a repeat this time round in the big one would be great, winning against City in the final would be the icing on the cake.
