This weekend.. Would love a cup run, and we know MoN likes the cups... But it's been a heavy schedule and still have a game today to come.. Injuries piling up, does he go all out and play the full first choice eleven (who-ever they may be), or is it time for Noble etc to have a shot?. One thing for certain it won't be a 4-6-0...ala Brighton.
tbh mate, I would love a good cup run, but not at the cost of getting a top 10 position. If we were to go out against Peterbourgh, but having a team of youths to give the first team a rest. Would be a good chance for Noble, Laing, Knott etc to get a run out with no pressure. I think this year the focus should be on the league, and next year we can go for both with Saint Martin in charge. If MoN goes down this route, i trust him to get it right. Tell the lads to get out there, have fun, get forward and show him/us what we have to look forward to in a few years time. If we go out, we go out. But the first teamers get a rest, and the others a chance. edit: too many saints at our club now... put Niall instead of Marty
Bearing in mind we play Tuesday, and have the extra days rest with the Cup game on Sunday I would play as strong a team as I could. No game next midweek either so I reckon we should have a stab at it. Naturally, don't risk anyone who is struggling but if players are fit get them in!
We are not going down we will not get into europe via the league so for methe cup is key to our season. give me a cup final over 10th place. I say go for it
I agree with Commachio - MON likes the cups so hopefully he will go for it. It would be good to see a strong but perhaps experimental side with the likes of Noble being given a go. I work in Leeds where the locals are prone to take the p155 at every opportunity, though God knows they have nothing to crow about, so I would be really happy if we could avoid being knocked out by another lower league side
Peterboro have been on a good run recently, they were unlucky to draw to Birmingham to an injury time penalty and drew away at Middlesboro. Their tails will be up and I think this may be a great game for Ryan Noble and Billy Knott to shine, but in general - I WANT A CUP RUN! Kill 'em Marty!
If we are around about where we are in the league at the end of the season and we are in the latter stages of the cup I woudnt be too upset.
