It's annoying me people are hoping we go out the cup on saturday. We are on a bad run of form, and surely a cup win will help boost morale and potentially turn form around? It's a chance for the players to get another win under their belts and push on from there, and even then I would welcome a good cup run as it would give the youngsters chances in the 1st team which they won't get in the league. as Paddy Podbed said: Remember the excitement created the last two seasons when we drew home ties against Pompey and ManUtd. Getting a draw against a Premier League club at some point as wel gives Nigel a chance to try out some tactics/players against Premier League opponents, just inc ase at the end of the season he needs to be planning for a season in the Prem! there are a variety of plus points which outweigh the negatives of a cup run IMO, and I think we should go for it
I fully agree, a win, regardless of what competition it comes in, boosts confidence and the players need a confidence boost at the moment
I disagree,i want to go out at the earliest opportunity,it's a distraction that i don't think we need.We can regain confidence with a win at Forest!
I hope we win. Remember the excitement created the last two seasons when we drew home ties against Pompey and ManUtd. I didn't care about this match until our recent poor results. We do not want to lose 3 games on the bounce..a win will do wonders for team and fan confidence. I do not, however, expect Nigel to play an unchanged side...he will give a few fringe players a chance and Bart desperately needs this game.
Nigel has played the cups pretty much spot on so far. He uses the right mix of youth, backup and first team players so that we have a competitive team out and give the rest of the squad a chance to get involved and noticed. By the way, Chaplow is still the only person to score a competitive goal past Lindegaard.
I really hope we don't draw a big team if we get through. It will distract us from the bigger picture which is the league.
