Here we are again for another lottery of guessing which teams will actually take the cup seriously, and which shocks there will be - anyone fancy Tamworth ? Most of us can remember a time when all teams took it seriously and played their best squads, and when bumper crowds could be expected but those days are long gone, at least for the Premiership clubs. The rules are the same as last year ie. you just tip winners and not scorelines - at least up to, and including the quarter final stage. Then it changes to tipping scorelines, like the other predictions league. Predictions, once given, are also then unchangeable for any replays (are there any replays left ?).

For the third round you get 10 points for every winner correctly predicted - ie. Fulham v Watford A (if you thnk the Horns will do it, and H if you think the home side will edge it.
For the fourth round this rises to 20 points for every winner (thus remaining a maximum 320 points per round)
For the fifth round 40 points per winner.
For the quarter finals 80 points.

At the Semi Final stage it changes to a scoreline based competition - results based on normal time only and not on any extra time results.
160 points for spot on tips ie. you tip Liverpool to beat Chelsea 2-1 in normal time and it happens that way.
80 points for the correct score difference eg. 2-0 against 3-1
40 points for the right result eg. 2-1 against 3-0.

For the final the maximum points total is 240 for a spot on scoreline. 120 for the right score difference and 60 for a correct result eg. 1-0 against 2-0.
You can tip a draw at both the Semi final and final stages - so if you tip 1-1 and it is that way after normal time then you get the maximum points total for that match. 0-0 would get the right score difference.

Unlike the other predictions league there are no jokers involved.

Here are the fixtures for the third round of the FA Cup. Matches commence on Thursday the 9th of January and the round finishes on Monday the 13th. They include the Hornets visit to Fulham, a top level clash at Arsenal and a fascinating duel between the two cities in Greater Mancland.

Unfortunately our interest in the cup didn't last very long this time around so the rest of the competition will be amongst the also rans. Not so many shocks around in the third round, at least no major giant killings. On here we have a clear leader after the completion of the round with Matej getting 25 from 32 tips correct. 5 tippers sharing second place with equals signs all over the place positioning in this case is purely alphabetical. The fixtures for the next round will come out later today, if I have time, if not then tomorrow. ​
