If you had a choice ,would you rather win the FA cup if it meant relegation.
    or stay in the PL

My take on it is ,it's not that easy for me to answer. we're a small club with a limited income stream ,very unlikely we'll ever break into the top 4 positions therefore the best we can hope for is remaining the PL as a mid table but always looking over our shoulder at relegation .with the exception of old Division 1 days we've always looked at promotion to the next level and maybe now this is it , we've peaked .Now how often does a "small " club win the FA cup ,not often with the exception of Wigan recently .We take the p*** out of cardiff when they bang on about winning it but they have and it's a recorded and still mentioned by pundits on occasion.whereas staying in the PL as team who because of the reasons above we're just another team .Maybe simplistic and I'm still not decided but it would be nice to see our names on the cup one day .

PL. Cups are so difficult to win and can be a welcome distraction but for us we have to concentrate on the next 4 league games

Not that I'm disagreeing but 3 questions , what is the purpose of the club ? ,what are it's aims, ambitions and are they the same as our own

I would like to hope the clubs aim is for the benefit of the future of the club over short term gains. So stay in the prem as long as possible with the money it brings in, invest it back in to the clubs infrastructure.

It's everyone's ambition to either play or watch football of the highest quality irrespective of whether your chances of winning the premier league is almost non exist ant. We must strive for this irrespective of the difficulties in doing so. Ask yourself this who would you prefer our opposition to be week in week out, the Chelsea's Man Utd , Man city, liverpool Arsenel etc or yeovil, Brighton Doncaster and Blackpools. Again no brainier

Yeah unfortunately - has to be PL. At least for now...

Another 3-4 years in this lucrative league and our club's structure & statue will be high enough for us to be able to progress on all fronts using a large squad, unfortunately we're not there yet.

Not sure if a club needs a specific 'purpose', but I think it's aim should marry with our own in being a permanent place in the premier league with no hint of relegation each season. A bit like Everton. Little chance of winning anything, but survival never in doubt. That wouldake me very happy indeed. Top quality teams at the Liberty week in, week out.

Actually Everton was the club I thought we most commonly aligned with but without the owner bit, steady progress and stability without doubt has to be the main aim ,I just thought mid table mediocrity and a stab at a cup run was the most we could wish for may& not satisfy the majority /minority , hence the question questionabout the clubs' ambition .

The answer to that is 'Growth', now growth comes in many ways, and now that we are in the Premiership, then our Growth as a club size and structure improves immensely, as an example we have paid for the Academy facilities at Landore out of Premiership money, we have also developed the 1st team facilities at Fairwood out of Premiership income, and we need to maintain that income stream if we want to purchase and expand the stadium.

It's not always about winning Cups at this stage, though I can see where you are coming from, but the Premier League income is vital to our expansion as a club, and has to be maintained as a first priority, and then the secondary competitions follow next in my view. Under normal circumstances I would field a second team on Saturday because of Premier League priority, but due to the confidence in the dressing room, I see Saturdays Cup game as an opportunity to repair our poor run of form, and I'm sure that Laudrup's coaching staff will be thinking the same, they will want a win from where ever it comes, and I for one hope our boys really thump Birmingham!.......<ok>

PS Mid table 'Mediocrity' I'll take any day of the week, with £70 Million in the bank every year to develop and consolidate! No Brainer.........<cheers>

I'd love to win the FA Cup, but at present time I'd have to go for Premier League. The FA Cup can wait till next year. :)

I go for the money in the PL. Bank/use that for a few seasons then we can look at a realistic tilt at the FA Cup.
