Has to be one of the biggest global audiences outside of the World Cup Final and the Champions League final. Anyone have any idea of the expected viewing figures or how many countries will be showing the game live ?
5-600m and it's televised in over 70 countries, the Champions League final is only about 450m. Biggest league match was Man City v Man United in 2012 with 650m, and the biggest ever football match was Italy v France in the 2006 World Cup.
70 or more Counties watch it World Wide , and the 5pm kick off is so even more can watch it We will gain fans and sell miles more merch 100% on the back of it When Thomas Cook start packages to see City and a hotel room at the Campanile, we will know weve hit the big time lol
All as Hull City AFC. Surprised the Allams didn't want us to lose to reduce the risk of elevating our 'City' profile to a world wide audience.
I'm going to dress like a **** in hope tv cameras spot me. Then I'm going to bare my arse to 600m people.
i suspect the majority in the UK will be "cheering on" the underdog , where-as globally i reckon the vast majority will be cheering on Arsenal , while thumbing through their Premier league guide books confused as to where Hull Tigers are ?!?! before putting their dollar on Thierry Henrys team .
A huge amount of money must be made out of the final and yet not much of it goes to the two clubs involved I think.
I thought the Champions League final got more viewers than the Super Bowl these days? I'm sure I read an article a few years back. I'll try find it later.
So with that size audience where do we stand legally with ****ing off cash converters and bringing in a one off match shirt sponser as the final is after the Prem season games? Will we have a new marketing team in place to maximise this one off opportunity or will we leave it to out of town wide boys to take the profits on snide Wembley gear, big challenge, 600m global viewers, can the club sell shirts west of Goole????????????
I posted about the new kit, the seasons finished so they could use a new kit and sponsor as other teams have done in the past. I'd be suprised if the new sponsor wasn't pushing for it
The figure of 600 million watching is nearly one in ten of the world's population watching the match. That seems a bit high. Man City v Stoke got 8 million in the UK which is about one in eight watching it here. It seems unlikely to me that the audience worldwide would only be a little less at one in ten than the figure for UK viewing.
Though I've seen the media saying 5-600m, I suspect 500m is more likely and that's one in fourteen. The 2005 final had 484m watching according to the FA website.
Not sure how you come to that conclusion? It is late at night in most of Asia where the largest potential audience is. eg midnight in China.
Yep I was furious about this at the time. Right in front of me. Boyd still should have been concentrating though.
