So after the Charlton game ( sadly I predicted 1-1 ), we move on to the fa cup.
Luckily, results were kind so we remain in the play offs ( I still very much have a giant nosebleed )

To me, this game has come at the perfect time. The 3 changes made last game very much highlight some players are running on empty, with some players getting the chance to impress.

    My team below

    Loach/

    Edwards/ Chambers/ Berra/ Mings

    Anderson / Tabb / Hyam / Hunt

    Taylor / Nouble

Dependent on Hunty being back. I'd love E Banks Blake to start, however I have a feeling he will be given 30 minutes. I'd like Taylor to do at least 75 minutes. Apparently very lively v Charlton until he badly faded.

    Have a feeling we'll edge this 2-1. Gate 10.500.

    Town 3 - PNE 0
    Gerks
    Chambo, Berra, Smith, Mings
    Ando, Tabb, Hyam, Hunt
    Tayls, SEB

I know most would say screw the FA cup and concentrate on the league but personally I would like to see us go on a cup run. In these days of FFP the longer you stay in the cup the more revenue you will acquire, making it easier to invest in the squad.

We should go out to win in every single game (or put out a strong enough team to win)
You can't switch form on and off so it would be a mistake to be too laissez-faire about this game, keeping the unbeaten run going should be in the forefront of everyone's minds...

    Team for me:

    Loach
    Chambo, Berra, Smith, Cresswell
    Edwards, Tabb, Hyam, Anderson
    SEB, Taylor

I can't see much movement in the back 4 but expect to see the midfield shuffled a bit

Am blasé about this game, and see very little significance in it, see it very much as a hindrance. We have a small squad, and don't have the resources to embark on a cup run, ideally we need to pack out the team with reserves. History tells us that teams have been relegated, while on cup runs, Wigan last season for example, look how Swansea have gone off the boil in the league, with their cup jaunts in Europe.

You also have the worry of getting injuries in these cup games, then of course if someone gets sent off, they would get banned for future matches, if we draw against Preston, then we have a long trek in midweek, then will have a league game on Saturday, presuming the team you are playing don't have a replay, they have a massive advantage, am not going to shed any tears if we get beat

Except for Mings aren't they the only 4 defenders now at the club?

IMO, we're now in a position where shuffling the pack the little we can doesn't affect the quality too much, none of the suggested teams so far have McGoldrick in them and they all look like good option for a championship game.

    Loach
    Chambers, Berra, Smith, Cresswell
    Anderson, Tabb, Wordsworth, Taylor
    SEB, McGoldrick

    Crowe
    Mings
    Lawrence
    Skuse
    Edwards
    Hunt
    Murphy

Curious move. A)not sure on why Mick won't play him. Answers on a postcard please .........
B)is he not better than that.

As to the Preston game. I think it has a 1-0 written all over it. Us playing a changed team and Preston going for it will make for a tight one. Taylor will get the winner

Would appear Preston have started the livelier !

I didn't realise they were doing quite so well in league 1 to be honest.

Little irritated Cresswell is playing, would rather someone else starting here. He needs time off! Assuming he is LM with Mings starting also?

Can't find the commentary on the radio, thought I had the right frequency, but there seems to be a public funeral going on

Disappointing result in terms of having to now have a replay. Didn't think it would be an easy game but hoped we'd pinch it.
Few shocks thrown up tho,you gotta love 3rd round weekend. Haven't you?

Poor result and it sounded like not many who were given the chance today really grabbed it, can those who went confirm?
I do want a cup run but I didn't want a replay, I guess it will bring more money in though if I'm looking for a positive.

Crap result which does us no favours!

This only goes to show how light we are in terms of the overall quality of the squad! The ones that came in today obviously didn't take the opportunity to show what they can do. <ok>

Better off out of it as far as I'm concerned, we're not gonna win it, and it just gets in the way of the real matter at hand, cementing our place in the play-offs...

Having said that, a 4th round draw against the scum at home would be great, but with them replaying at Fulham it would seem that even if we win at Deepdale, they'll be be out of it by then...
