Well they kncocked us out last season when they were in the relegation zone and now they're top! Bit of a **** draw for us, feels like a long time since we played non-PL opposition in the FA Cup. Ah well at least we're at home.
Depends what team they put out. Ranieri might not see it as a priority if they are still top after the Xmas slog-a-thon.
I'd rather play a top team. I've thought for a while playing a much smaller team may have a bad effect. It's because in tennis you just about can't help playing down about halfway to the level of your opposition, if they're significantly weaker, so I figure it's true in football as well. I'm looking forward to the game, but can't help thinking the winner may find it at best a mixed blessing.
I'd have much rather had an easy home draw against a lower-league side or someone doing terribly, frankly. Arsenal's draw against Sunderland or Man Utd's inevitably televised walkover against Sheffield United. Having to face the team that's at the top of the league isn't ideal, is it? I think that Leicester will take this very seriously. They're not going down and this is a real opportunity to win a trophy. Ranieri will fancy his chances of earning another little place in the folklore at the club. Edit: This also means that we play them twice in the space of a few days. We're at home to them on the Saturday and the Wednesday, as things stand.
Which one of the two do we prefer to win? At present they have had no injuries. Things could be alot different if they start to suffer a .couple
25 years since our last final, losing 6 semi`s along the way, we are certainly due. Nailed on Exeter v Pool will be a live game.
I'd rather win the PL game, unless our chances of doing well in the league diminish considerably between now and then. Right now the league is so unpredictable and closely contested any one of the top five or seven who finds some belief could do really well.
I always think it's 6 games to win the trophy...that always makes me think it's achievable. A team like ours just needs the hunger for it. None of them have won much in this country...that should be enough drive for a team we all are hoping will take us into a shiny new home and be moving up a notch in ability.
Shame in a way as it means that we really are running out of opportunities to see some of the youngsters (I use that as a relative term) in action. Players like Wimmer, Tommy, Pritchard, Winks etc. The EL ship has sailed as the standard of opposition in the KO's tends to be too good to risk the youngsters. I was hoping for a few 'easy' cup ties, especially after our meek exit from the COCK cup or whatever they call it this year. Oh well, Man United v Chef United has cupset written all over it.
For once I'd rather win the FA Cup than finish in the top 4. A cup win would be a special moment as its been too long for Spurs. Considering our rich history with the competition we need to win it again asap.
Would've been nice to have drawn an 'easier' opponent but at home I always fancy us to win regardless of opposition, plus it gives us a chance for revenge from last season.
Usually I would agree with this, but this season has genuinely and completely unexpectedly thrown us the best chance we've had since Bale's last year to make top 4. There's no question that Chelsea and Man U will throw mountains of cash at their tepid teams to improve, I also suspect that Klopp will be given significant funds to strengthen whilst City will probably appoint a decent manager who gets the PL. Not to mention 'little' clubs like Leicester and Palace who are improving rapidly now year on year. We need to go into next season from a postion of strength, given all of the above and the consideration that it will be our last at WHL before a year of upheaval prior to moving into the new stadium. The FA cup brings relatively temporary glory. CL qualification represents a massive statement of intent that runs perfectly parallel with the construction of a new stadium and sustained development of the academy - all combining to paint a picture of a club with THE brightest future in the PL.
