Not really. When we were playing well and a Championship or League 1 team, then there was a bit of excitement, that we might get a big side. Now we are getting solidly beaten each week by them. Not anything to look forward to.
Not that I'm really bothered about the cup this season, but City are having a bit of a bad spell and the grounds set for an upset.

The FA Cup has really lost its appeal to the majority of supporters. When I was young it was one of the very few live games you would see on TV. BBC and ITV would have full coverage from about 11 in the morning, with reports from team hotels,on the coach etc. As mass coverage of games increased my viewing pleasure? Not really.
As much as it pains me to say it, IF we were to ever win the FA Cup it would be nowhere near as great an acheivement as it was when the Binmen won it back in the day.
Blimey Welly I didn't expect that response ! Fact is way back then the Cup was THE trophy everyone wanted to win and players would be 'rested' if necessary for cup ties rather than mundane league fixtures, don't you agree?
True, but our FA Cup was won by a team that had played in the UEFA Cup for the previous four seasons, obviously finishing in the top 4/5 of the old Div 1 to qualify. No big money in the game back then, in those days a provincial club with a good manager could win the FA Cup, or even back to back European Cups. Those days are long gone, and although teams might rest players in the early round of the FA Cup now, they tend not to when it gets to the business end of things... You're not comparing like with like, if you were to win the FA Cup these days you could easily argue that it was a greater achievement than ours, although of course, I would use a completely different line of argument to disagree with you.
