No Saints action this weekend but plenty of Cup action. Dan ****tu has just scored for Millwall against Villa, it's now 1-1. Some cracking games this weekend, Oldham v Liverpool, Brentford v Chelsea and Brighton v Arsenal. That will be a tough game for Arsenal but as long as Wenger takes it seriously and plays a strong team they should get through.
Draw, with replay going to extra time villa go 4 nil up but millwall come back in the last 10 mins of extra time and win on penalty shoot outs, with guzan tripping over on the last penalty and missing the next few games from embarrassment
At this point I'm viewing them more as a scientific experiment, to discover at what point a combination of overexertion and crushing defeat will cause eleven grown men to start sobbing uncontrollably.
Great result for us! Villa management, players and fans morale and confidence must be shattered yet again
If it wasn't already, Villa's next game against Newcastle is massive! If Lambert survives this defeat to Millwall on the back of defeat to Bradford then surely he won't be able to survive a loss to Newcastle as well. They look in serious trouble and don't have the funds to try and buy their way out of it.
They probably can't afford to sack Lambert and hire someone else. Are they confident that another manager could do any better? Difficult call.
El Sackio part deux (but for real this time). As it turns out Nigel was probably closer to being sacked back then than I originally thought...
Lerner has already said him and Lambert have met and they still share the same ideas. So unless Lerner total changes his mind I doubt he will be sacked.
Doesn't mean much though. Fernandez kept on publicly backing Hughes. Like Fran says, I think the thing that might save Lambert his job is Villas lack of money, or of course an up turn in results. They could quite conceivably loose their next two games and it would certainly be interesting to see what happens then. I personally hope he stays because he doesn't look like a man that can inspire a turnaround in results.
Fernandez is willing to spend Lerner isn't, he wants Villa to be self sufficient so it's different. They only had this meeting last week and Lambert said even if they go down he had been told he will stay.
