Pompey have been drawn away to Hereford in the first round of the National League North.

The tie will be played at Edgar Street on the weekend of November 4-7.

It will be a first meeting with the club who were formed in 2014 following the demise of Hereford United.

But Pompey did face the defunct version on several occasions, most recently at Fratton Park in August 2009.

Goals from Frederic Piquionne, John Utaka, Niko Kranjcar and Richard Hughes sealed a 4-1 victory in a League Cup second round contest.

Hereford have already seen off Bromsgrove Sporting, Three Bridges and Bromley to reach this stage of the competition.

Josh Gowling's side currently sit 15th in the National League North standings, with 15 points from 11 matches.

Pompey's Emirates FA Cup first round tie at Hereford has been selected for live television coverage.

The Edgar Street contest will take place on Friday, November 4 (7.55pm kick-off) and be shown on BBC Two, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport online.

It is the first time the Blues have faced the National League North side since they reformed in 2014 following the collapse of Hereford United.

Both clubs will receive a fee of £50,000 from the competition's broadcast fund..

Winning sides in the FA Cup first round will also receive £41,000 in prize money.
