Chesham United play in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division. They are 6th bottom sitting in 19th. Same league as Poole Town, Weymouth, Chippenham Town, Frome Town, Cirencester Town and Hitchin Town.

    The return of Barry Hayles!

I'm sorry, but I won't be one of the visiting horde on the day, but I'm sure there will be quite a few visitors. A little bit to far to come from Ipswich at my age! Mind you, if Queens Park Rangers had been away I might have come!

The league position is probably a little misleading and two years ago we lost in the play off final at home to St Albans in front of 3,000. Think the club was paying a bit more in wages at that time though!

    The Chesham claim to fame?

    1) 1968 reached the final of the FA Amateur Cup, having started in the Preliminary Round.
    2) 1979 (?) reached the Third Round proper of the FA Cup.
    3) Won the Isthmian League (with over a 100 points) but couldn't accept promotion to the Conference due to the cost of ground improvements required.

All in the past, but who knows, perhaps you will not perform on the day & this can be added to the list!

    Thanks for that info <ok>

Is Hayles manager or still a player?

Also how many leagues below are Chesham?

I notice Chesham are not far from Wycombe!

Just found out 3 leagues below us.

With our home form, this got banana skin written all over it. Maybe live on TV too.

How dare you, I came on the site in peace & you swore at me! I even prefer C****** & manure to The Devil's own club!

Seriously, Hayles is player/ assistant manager but is currently injured.

I hardly see chesham these days as i live in Ipswich & am an ST holder at Loftus Road, but Chesham united are my first love & will be forever in my blood.

This is the league below Conference South (or north) & unfortuneately we have never beaten a Football league side in the FA Cup. When we reached the Third Round it was afterr winning at Minehead & Merthyr before losing at home to Cambridge. Cambridge were a top half second division side at that time & won by two George (the giant) Reilly goals.

Wycombe is a swear word to us too <laugh>

If Hayles gets himself fit in time then I bet he will still cause our defence problems.

As long as Hayles doesn't play to the same level as he did that day against Derby he will be welcome mind you if we play the same way as we did against Newport in the second half on Saturday it could be very embarrassing

Hayles was playing for Truro quite recently. His legs have gone, but he still chipped in with a few goals. Is he 40ish?

I think you've got him confused with Nathan Ellington there re Derby.

Have we ever played Chesham before in the dim and distant past? I don't think we have...

This has got all the ingredients of a right royal f*** up in time honoured Rovers tradition but hey ho we've all been there before just like Hayes in '71 and Kettering a bit later in the 80's...we'll keep.

Am I now to understand that the K.O has been moved back to 2.00pm on Sunday the 8th of November to 'fit in' with some kind of TV magazine show ?

The BBC have chosen a couple of games for their show on the Sunday where they will show all the goals as and when it happens and we are one of the chosen games.

I am surprised that we agreed to do this. We have a game vs Southend on the Tuesday in the JPT. So game on Sunday then day off then game on Tuesday. Why haven't we moved the Southend game to the Wednesday? I guess that will annoy fans who already sorted travel. But just seems unfair playing 2 games in 3 days. Maybe DC will play a reserve side against Chesham?
