FA Cup 1st Round Bees v Chairboys 8th November 2014

The Chairboys kick off their FA Cup run with the short trip to Edgware, to play the Bees in their Hive with both clubs top of their leagues, after 19 games the Bees sit 9 pts clear with an impressive goal difference of +29 with Charlie MacDonald and former Chairboys John Akinde knocking them in and also Sam Togwell aka Giggsy in midfield. With a trio of players on 4 yellows Gaz is likely to make a few changes, although with a very small squad made even smaller by bench warmer Nicky Walker loan spell coming to an end, Gaz has little room for manoeuvre. I will be working Saturday but Blue Soldier will be keeping me updated I’m hoping for a run to the 3rd round and an away game against one of the big boys to boost the clubs funds

 

We will need to be at full strength to win this one and I can't see it happening. We fielded a very strong team in our pre-season game and scraped home 1-0. Apparently they should have scored a few. Barnet are flying high and have just signed a Watford striker on loan. I'm not sure if we can field a much stronger team than we did then, apart from our latest loan signing. We don't seem to do too well against non league sides and here we have an almost certain L2 outfit that will be up for it, possibly more so than us.

Prediction: Barnet 3 Wycombe 1.

Can't see us letting in 3 goals Ron to be honest. It will be hard but i reckon we''ll win by one goal but had this tie been last season i'd have said a definate defeat. We look so much stronger in defence now and with Hayes up front and Murphy on a roll with 3 goals in 3 games i'm sure we'll get a result. I'll get my coat!!

 

I hope you are right mowgli. I think Hayes and Murphy and all the defence played in the pre-season game. Although I am confident of our defence, I think there will be one game where the near misses go in. Hope it isn't today.

No sub defenders Hopefully none get injured or Ainsworth might put Lewis in defence but he's too much of a hothead to be in defence at risk of getting sent off or giving away a penalty. I Know Murphy can defend but he'd be wasted i'd rather he had his usual role.

I thought Gaz was going to field our strongest (available) side. Wouldn't that include Ephrian? Or is he also banned from playing in cup games?

Might as well get out of this cup if we can't play a full strength side.
