The Football Association expects to keep Fabio Capello as England manager despite reports that Inter Milan are hoping to make him their new manager, the Daily Telegraph reports.

The Serie A side are keen on Capello but the FA believes the potential £6 million compensation they would be entitled to will ensure the Italian stays.

Capello’s contract is up at the end of the 2012 European Championship and the FA want him to see out the deal, despite their uncertain qualification attempts for Poland and Ukraine.

Italian clubs regularly express interest in Capello, who has an excellent reputation in his homeland. But the FA is satisfied that their manager is fully focused on qualifying for next summer's tournament.

An FA source told the Telegraph: “There has been no contact from Inter and we are confident of him staying.’’

Capello has personally distanced himself from the San Siro job.

Inter were interested in Porto manager Andre Villas-Boas but were reportedly put off by his compensation package, which would be twice that of Capello.

Argentine Marcelo Bielsa is also linked with the post which has become available after Leonardo said he wanted to take an executive role at Paris St Germain.
