Another bigoted old blazer bites the dust. How is it that people like this manage to get themselves into positions of power and influence ... ... and why can't they ever come up with better excuses. If he's like this, when he's in a situation of being scrutinised, what is he like in private with his bunch of cronies. According to this clown 'being gay is a life choice' Greg Clarke resigns as Football Association chairman after remark about black players. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/sport/amp/football/54894864
I once met Seb Coe and it was like being transported back to the days of the British Empire. These people are locked into their own little rose tinted world forever mate.
It wasn't just he used the word coloured instead of black. He also said something along the lines that Asians prefer computers to football and women/girl goslkeepers are scared of a football kicked hard towards them. I think I am older than this bloke and reckon I am not very woke (whatever that means) or PC correct. But wtf, no wonder football is in a mess if this bloke is a football bigwig and he comes up with 1950s thinking in 2020 to a parliamentary committee.
Ok mate that wasn’t on the news I saw this morning I can’t even find a mention of it at all on the bbc news on my phone.
I can’t see what he’s said that’s so wrong he’s had to resign? I’m honestly at a loss as to what is politically correct and what’s not.
Fair enough mate, but you're not in the position of representing the very people he's misrepresentating ... ... and being paid a fortune for doing such a poor job.
The BBC have done their usual trick of reporting some of the story then reporting fully on the aftermath. I had to go through foreign news services to piece it all together. The BBC has various vested interests they seek to protect.
This is probably the straw that broke the camels back, he's not been doing a very good job for a while now and appears more concerned with cosying up to the clubs with financial power than actually governing football. Think the things he said we're pretty harmless but stupid considering his job and who he was talking to.
Clarke said: “If I look at what happens to high profile female footballers, high profile coloured footballers and the abuse they take on social media … they take absolutely terrible abuse.” https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...eg-clarke-resigns-after-unacceptable-comments The stupid C**T should not have used the C word.
Good intentions communicated exceptionally badly. Like a pissed old uncle at New Year’s Eve trying to be down with the kids.
I haven't delved into this in any detail, but to me, referring to some as 'coloured people' is a 'slip of the tongue' rather than a hanging offence, and he's obviously said some things that aren't considered to be p.c. these days, but people of his age group/era (like a lot of us on here) sometimes say things that they/we were brought up with, with no malice or intent. I know virtually nothing about the bloke, I hadn't even heard of him, and I know that he's in a responsible position where he needs to 'watch what he says' but I can't understand why he needed to resign Am I not understanding this like I should, am I not taking it seriously enough, or is it a case of some looking for reasons to be offended again and needing to make a point Perhaps he's at an age where he was thinking about retirement anyway and this was a convenient trigger for him !
I think you’re partly right about coloured ie people of colour is ok and black doesn’t describe say Middle Eastern or Asian communities. He did however say some other random misguided things like being gay being a life choice and girls not liking balls being kicked at them. He definitely made some stereotypical statements and assumptions. He was either badly advised or made an error of judgment thinking he was skilled enough to do this. Once on social media the world sees your errors and he made a number of them. As I said before he was like the drunk uncle.
