Over the years there have been many F1 games, produced by a variety of companies, and also of a variety of quality. I know a few contributors to this board are active gamers, and a few others I'm sure have in their past. I was wondering which game people thought was the best? Todays F1 2010 on the next gen consoles, or maybe something more classic like F1 97 on the PS1?

I also wanted this thread to serve another purpose - to see who is the fastest gamer on this board. I'll try and keep this top post up to date with the fastest lap times people have produced. If you want to join in, simply post the track, time, car used and the game it was on. Obviously there'll be some differences within the cars, I think cars from around 2005-2007 were slightly faster than today, so I'll try and come up with a correction to apply as they are needed (I'm thinking comparing 2 pole laps from the different years from cars in a similar position?).

This is only a bit of fun, and maybe to get people back to their consoles with the PSN down, and maybe spark some friendly competition. I'll post my times to start with, and I'm sure they'll very quickly be replaced:

    Melbourne: 1min25.829 Ferrari (DHCanary F12009)

    Sepang: 1min29.2?? ???????????? (Fred F1 2010)

    Shanghai: 1min35.845 Ferrari (DHCanary F12009)

Sakhir: 1min32.274 BMW Sauber (DHCanary F12009)
    Sakhir (2010 layout): 1min48.320 ????????????? (Fred F1 2010)

    Catalunya: 1min24.061 Ferrari (DHCanary F12009)

Monte Carlo: 1min18.067 Toro Rosso (DHCanary F12009)

Istanbul: 1min29.351 BMW Sauber (DHCanary F12009)

    Silverstone: 1min16.9?? ???????????? (Fred F1 CE)

Nurburgring: 1min31.853 BMW Sauber (DHCanary F12009)

    Budapest: 1min19.923 Mclaren (DHCanary F12009)

Valencia: 1min38.866 BMW Sauber (DHCanary F12009)

    Spa-Francorchamps: 1min49.564 Brawn (DHCanary F12009)

    Monza: 1min23.977 Ferrari (DHCanary F12009)
    Monza (Wet): 1min23.3?? ????????? (Fred F1 2010)

Singapore: 1min41.597 BMW Sauber (DHCanary F12009)

Suzuka: 1min33.538 BMW Sauber (DHCanary F12009)

Sao Paulo: 1min14.919 Brawn (DHCanary F12009)

Yas Marina: 1min35.795 BMW Sauber (DHCanary F12009)

    Hockenheim: 1min16.5?? ??????????? (Fred F1 2010)

    Montreal (Wet): 1min14.7?? ??????????? (Fred F1 2010)

They're certainly nothing special, so this should be more a case of who beats them first!

    Conversions:
F1 2010 pole laps were, on average 1.82% faster, so to be fastest an F12010 time must be within 98.18% of an F109 time,

 I can try and take a photo of the screen if you'd like, otherwise I think we'll just have to trust each other...<whistle>

Because revision and web design suck, I'm working on conversions!

PSP, I hadn't considered any difference between them to be honest, I'm not sure if one is much harder or not.

Not to my knowledge, and I don't think there is anything between consoles and different games.

The only problem with comparing the Bahrain one is that for 2010 they used a one off circuit alteration. I'm tempted to post my better F1 06 times, but there is more of an issue there. Like Catalunya's last sector, etc.

The idea is good but games differ a lot and it all depends on cars and driving aids. For example, while Lorca will have full traction control, his bib, nappie and sick bag on full, DHCanary may be without such aids. Who was the lad trying to set up an F12010 league thingy months ago, that would be good.

I knew the league bombed, so i thought I'd try this, seeing as i know a few play the games. Looks like this is a failure too!
