Just thought that we might need a 2023 thread.

Being reported that Nyck de Vries will be driving for AlphaTauri next year partnering Yuki! So that could mean Pierre Gasly will join Alpine!

Who is apparently in talks for the Mercedes reserve role.

Not sure that'll be a move that gets him back on the grid any time soon, but might keep him around F1 whilst giving him some freedom to run another series.

Williams seem to be waiting on Logan Sargent's Superlicense before deciding. I think it'll be between Sargent if he gets one, Mick Schumacher if not, with Hulkenburg to Haas.

If ricciardo goes reserve he might as well just go on sky with Anthony Davidson. Pointless.

Ricciardo has confirmed he's not driving in 2023 and is looking at options for 24.

All but retirement i'd say. If he's got any ambitions of rebuilding his career he needs to offer to drive the Haas for massively reduced wages and prove himself again. No top team next year is going to hire a guy who's out of the sport who's last two seasons were both terrible.

True, but they were world champions who had left after pretty good seasons and even then they had to settle for midfield teams on their comeback.

Danny needs to lower his expectations a bit. I'm sure he'll get an offer for 2024, but it won't be a Mercedes race seat.

Ricciardo is a race winner which in ye olden days was actually rare enough so its hard to figure exactly what his target is here.

If he heads for Indy car or something he might make a splash.

If he is interested in IndyCar and can land a drive, he'll be utterly loved. Shorter season, more time at home, potentially many years of career ahead of him, and potentially race wins and a shot at a the title.. he might even forget about F1. But is he even interested in it?

So speculation the Danny is going to be reserve driver for Red Bull next year. As was said on sky that could be very frustrating. Seems he wants to be in paddock hoping for a drive rather than racing. I do wonder what went wrong at McLaren, till then his career was sound.
I guess if he leaves F1 he may not be able to get back. Holding the dream.

So if audi are going to supply engines in 2026 and VW own audi..... and Porsche half own Williams and vw owns Porsche.... well... what happens to the badging of the car.

williams Porsche audi or will it end up as Porsche audi and another privateer name dies?

Jordan = Aston martin = Many many many owners and now private after ford sold brand.
Sauber = Alpha romeo = Fiat
Tyrell to BAR to Honda to Brawn to Mercedes
Stewart to Jaguar to Red Bull.
minardi to torro rosso to Alpha tuari.
Toleman to Benetton to renault to lotus to renault to alpine= many names same french less than committed car maker
mariussa - bought out bankrupt by Haas

    williams
    mclaren
    ferrari

thats all thats left of racing lines stretching back. theres small fry teams and rivateers made into championship winners by big car companies or big drinks company....

It'd be par for course for williams name to vanish into the VW name i guess.

Sauber are not owned by Alpha Romeo or Fiat. Its just a sponsorship naming deal. I believe they are owned by some adventure capitalist firm

Stewart were never really a private team. They were always backed as the works Ford team that then rebadged them Jaguar (as they owned Jaguar at the time)

again Its a partnership with Sauber not a full take over. Bit like Alfa Romeo but enhanced with works engine from Audi or like what they had with BMW. And with the budget cap should be able to get up to speed quickly.

would still like to see an 11th team though

Alfa still having naming rights for next season, and they'll have Ferrari engines.

    Audi Alfa-Romeo Ferrari Racing?
