Speculation is growing that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger may be set to retire at the end of this season. According to an unofficial club blog Arsenal Action, the Frenchman was distrought following Saturday's humiliating 6-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, which looks to have all but ended the Gunners' title hopes for the year. The thrashing was unfortunate to come in Wenger's 1000th match for the club, and although the pre-match buildup was in full praise of the Arsenal boss, he has come under scrutiny again as his side look set for another disappointing season. It is now being claimed that Wenger informed the players of his decision in the dressing room after the game, and the club have issued something of a media blackout since then, which has only fuelled the rumours further. The 64-year-old is currently the longest serving manager in the Premier League by quite a distance, following the retirement of another legendary figure last summer, as Sir Alex Ferguson called time on 27 years at Manchester United. While Ferguson went out on a high at Old Trafford, it seems as though it is this latest low at the hands of Chelsea that has persuaded Wenger that he has taken Arsenal as far as he can. The board are said to be hoping to persuade him to change his mind.
Arsenal Action is the same prick who organised the massively successful "black binbag" protest a couple of seasons ago.He also tried to organise an even less successful boycott of the new away kit this season.
As if Wenger's ego would allow him to retire. Come on, we're stuck with him unless the board of directors grow a pair, which is unlikely.
I think he also tried to organise the "pies & pints " boycott. He's just another child who has access to the internet and tries to make out he is the voice of the fans
According to rumours on Twitter, Arsene Wenger will not be doing a press conference pre the Swansea game, this story is from legit journalists like Amy Lawrence of the Grauniad. Some of these rumours are also saying the players have been told to make no comments on social media. Perhaps someone maybe able to explain how a nomark keyboard warrior knows so much about what is happening at the club
The club don't always do mid-week press conferences but according to Amy Lawrence a press conference has been cancelled
Not really a very good state for the club to be in during such an important stage of the season. At this stage you want to be on form, confident etc, yet it's a media lockdown at Arsenal because of that hiding.
Good, I don't think we should be talking to the media, or the players talking about it on Twatter either. We need to get our heads down and prepare for Tuesday.
Wenger did basically say he would only sign a new contract if he felt it was in the best interest of the club. Maybe he is realising he is no longer the manager he once was?
