Today in Melbourne, the G1 running of the $1,500,000 Blue Diamond took place. Mick Price had the two top horses in the race, Extreme Choice and Flying Artie, and they finished well clear of the field. The winner is all sprinter, while the runner up looks to have a future over further ground. Extreme Choice, although small, is one hell of a find. He's fourth in running, in dark blue. Watch for Flying Artie being smashed on the corner as he comes via the cape. He's in pink with black sleeves.
Cornering any Lada owner would be proud of. Do you reckon if he'd been on the inside he might have won with a clear run Cyc?
That's a good question Ron. The trainer said leading into the race that he couldn't split them. I think as time goes on, Extreme Choice will be the crack sprinter, where as Flying Artie looks as though he's mile bound. In the last hundred metres or so, the winner began to come away again. He's only a little fella, but he's one hell of a sprinter. He goes straight into the $3,500,000 Golden Slipper, and it looks as though Flying Artie might be heading that way as well. He's up for an $80,000 fee to get in though.
