What are all these explosions?

There a few yesterday, and just now starting at about 1pm there's been about 8 - some sound distant and some sound very close.

WTF are they?

Anyone else heard 'em?

Is it some sort of Culture thing? The seagulls don't like it, can tell you that.

Still going on as I post this....

Not heard anything, but they do set off a banger to keep the pigeons from settling from time to time.

They had an old boat of some type on the marina apparently with pretend cannons on it, which they were shooting off with abandon.

Mystery solved.
