I think this highlights why we are struggling at the minute. Albeit its a good thing having a young squad you do need a bit more experience in the squad. Back in our League 1 season we had Paul Dickov, Matt Oakley, Steve Howard, Wayne Brown, Chris Powell and Bruno Berner for experience. This time we only really have Wes Morgan, Paul Konchesky and David Nugent who have been playing regularly who have experience. If we had an older head in midfield I think it would do us the world of good. Whether that man is Richie Wellens it remains to be seen please log in to view this image
They'll have that experience though next season- the likes of Drinkwater, De Laet, Wood, Knockaert all getting more game time will only make them better. At least we don't have to worry about them getting worse next season. Out of our players Knockaert James Drinkwater King Wood Marshall Keane (?) Schlupp (?) De Laet Waghorn Futacs Moore Are all in early twenties and will therefore only improve.
'Squad' is always a debatable term though- a lot of teams beef up their squad with youth team players. I'd imagine, but can't say I really know, that this is the case with Peterborough. We don't have many in the first team squad and never have done.
