I know there has been untold amounts of the who's going where? threads over the past day or two (though I strongly believe we won't get Carlton Cole!), so i'll try and avoid that. I am in fact, curious as to whether or not you guys feel there will actually be a mass exodus at West Ham like the papers are suggesting? All these players and estimated valuations may have brought back not so fond memories of a certain relegation in the 08/09 season for some. A mass exodus was tipped then but never really happened- bar a few players who had to go... but I digress!

I just feel if west ham got rid of their dead wood (which they have in abundance!) and brought through youth through their renowned academy I could see them making a very swift return! But their finances will probably suggest otherwise...

Have they got any really promising youngers? Got to admit I don't know a great deal about their team. Mind if I was them I wouldn't be overly confident what with Gold and Sullivan in charge =/

That would be where to start for West Ham; 90% of income spent on wages!

I think there will be an exodus, mostly because of the finances. I'm sure all of Sullivan's recent comments regarding not expecting England players to want to go down to the championship is his way of deflecting the fact that he wants to be shot of them to save on their wages.

I.E. he is hoping that the players will comment about wanting to leave and then he won't be blamed for allowing star players to leave.

Taking a step back and bringing through their academy talent is probably going to be their way back anyway and i'm thinking will long term serve them better than hanging onto the under performing so called stars.

They've always incorporated youngsters it seems, I think many of those youngsters could do the business in the championship if they held on to some of their -decent- elder players?

Kieron will be dropped if his contract does end in June thats 60k a week gone. Parker to maybe Arse. Upson can actually see makems go after him with Mensah going

top question. <ok> have some rep.

Honestly, I've no idea, it'll be a test of the players mettle thats for sure. I think (read: hope ) C.Cole will stay, seeing as he's got a relegation clause in his contract, and it's more likely the other strikers will kick up a fuss as well. Parker is also a toughy, since he's the player i'd most expect to see commitment and loyalty from, but he's also the Hammers' most coveted player.

I think Dyer, Upson and Green's contracts are all running down in june(?) and they'll all walk (partly to lighten the wage bill, partly because they won't want to hang around)

I would take Ba, but that's it, papers have even tipped him to go for around 1.5 million-- that would be what one would define as a 'bargain'!

If that's the case he wants to be the first player through the doors at St James this summer. 1.5m seriously that cant be right, his value hasnt dropped 4-5m in half a season which has seen him score 7 goals in 13 games...

    Ta for the rep! <ok>

Although it's the worst thing you could go through in football, you can draw many positives from relegation- prime example being us! I think that's what G&S will look to do (well I hope for WHs sake!), albeit Ba, Parker, Green, Upson, Hitzelsperger all look set to leave, there's many in the team they could hold onto who might perhaps from a year in championship like mark Noble and Da Costa.

Just the wage bill and rebuild by holding onto players they feel necessary to hold onto and bring through the youth- but like i said, hope!

I read it on the mail (so i shouldn't have really used i know!) but it suggests that he isn't being regarded as hot property and could go for around the price they bought him for (6mil ?) at which i would want us to press and try and acquire his services!
