It appears expectations have risen enormously this season, so I'm just wondering if you can make your expectations known in this thread please. It's always good to have this documented so we can refer back to it when we get a little overly dramatic following defeats. I'll say top 8 is my expectations and I'm not arsed about cup 'runs' I would like to 'win' a cup, but I definitely don't expect to. Let's just chill out and enjoy it.
Expectations? Actually quite low. We may struggle to stay top 10. Still going to get very annoyed when Howe ****s about making incredibly stupid decisions, though.
The good thing is, I got it very wrong last season, so my past performance of setting expectations is no guide to our future performance. Hopefully we do better than my expectations - again.
This. I expected Liverpool to win, even with 10 men. I expected City to win. I expect Brighton to win. I HOPED we would win all three. I hoped Howe wouldn't be so ****ing stupid, insipid and predictable. He talked after the game about "analysing" or some other guff - yet we did things exactly the same as we did in the meek surrender to City the week before. What the **** is he "analysing"?
Indeed but you must go in to a game expecting to win. When I play the lottery I hope to win and not expect it.
I think i said 4th before season but i'm thinking more 6th-7th now, the extra games could do us in a bit, and there's no telling how long yesterday could affect us for mentally.
That's the thing, it's not just the squandering of 3 points, it's the impact on the mentality and belief in that dressing room now. To have buried Liverpool would have been a massive lift, but bottling it like they did could have a major impact on the upcoming games.
Aye, when you are robbed in a game by the ref or whatevever you can use it as fuel for future games, like last season after liverpool away and palace home, we went on that winning run. When you throw a game away like that it can linger. I am a bit concerned about us mentally, time will tell.
Top 8? So lets just lower our expectations tremendously to avoid disappointment lol. 8th place would mean Eddie Howe gets the sack. I'm not saying I want him to be sacked, but 8th place would not satisfy the owners. No european football at all would mean we lose 2-3 of our players to CL clubs, and we have to start rebuilding again. Top 6 should be absolute minimum requirement based on what we've already achieved. I had no delusions of winning a title or anything like that. I expected 4-5th place, which is perfectly fine as an expectation. We had a tough run of games to start, We beat villa and lost to City and Liverpool. It's no big deal. We never beat City or Liverpool and mostly lose.
