The Geordie lads are very downbeat ahead of our game next week and most are forecasting an easy Saints win. They have a number of injuries, including Tiote, and Pardew seems to be becoming a real hate figure amongst most of their fans. The decision to loan out Ben Arfa seems to have been the final straw for many.

We all know there are no easy games at this level but with all the disharmony in the Newcastle camp will you be disappointed with anything less than a home win.

We must capitalise on the chaos. But, I reckon like usual we shall see a couple of the injured players returning against us. They won't make it easy.

This is a very sneaky early early substitute for a match thread, Lambie. Getting bored during the international chasm? I stayed with a Newcastle fan during the summer....she was not a happy bunny. Had little time for Pardew, but most of her ire was directed at their owner...despite the fact he has got them into a sound financial position. I suppose Newcastle know they are not a top side, but believe they should be in the next tranche of teams such as Spurs...whereas they may even flirt with the relegation teams this season. I think Saints fans feel that we should modestly accept mid-table, but really in our heart of hearts we see ourselves higher than that...but that's a different story.

This is a hard game to call...we are away from home (IDIOT ALERT), but are more a team on the up than Newcastle, who don't quite know who they are. I think we have a slight edge and would love to beat yet another middling team like West Ham (these are the teams we need to beat), but we mustn't get too downhearted if we lose. Early days yet.

I have said since the fixtures were released that once the Livepool game had finished then we had some pretty winnable fixtures i personally will be very disapointed if we havn't achieved at least 20 points by the time we face Man city.

I think we will win, but it will a closer game. Sadly with their fans not optimistic, a couple of injuries for them, it's obviously going to be a 0-0 draw.

I hate these breaks especially as we are on a winning run. Was going to suggest a starting team but too difficult until we know they are all back safe and sound.

I haven't got over the thrilling excitement of the England game yet and there is another one to come.

I haven't a clue who it is against but I am sure we will be absolute crap.

Why is it whenever England have a game I always want the other side to win.

Maybe it is because the England team contains the has beens and never will bes who play for one of only four clubs.

Sir Alf must turn in his grave every time he sees the team sheet.

I would like to know who started this fashion for playing people out of position.

My daughter's boyfriend, a Newcastle fan, tells me that on the forum he uses most fans are hoping that the Magpies lose the next couple of games so that Pardew will get sacked. Let's hope that the same attitude affects the team as well! They have made a couple of decent additions though, Cabella and De Jong are both excellent players, but De Jong faces up to 4 months out with a groin strain so won't be playing against us.

I can't see anything other than a comfortable win for us on the 13th.

Seems to be a common theme Chilco. Started by this article.

Alan Pardew is fighting for his future as Newcastle United manager, just four games into the new season. The Independent understands there has been a change of mood within the club towards Pardew.

The Newcastle owner Mike Ashley stood by the 53-year-old last season when he head-butted the Hull midfielder David Meyler, although he was fined £100,000 and accepted a formal warning for his behaviour. However, the club spent nearly £40 million on nine new players in the transfer window and there has failed to be an upturn in results.

Pardew’s lack of popularity with the club’s support at the end of last season was such that he could not even stand in his technical area for the final home game at St James’ Park because of the abuse he faced. Yet there was a determination from within the club to stand by the second-longest serving manager in the Premier League and ride out the storm.

That attitude appears to have cooled in light of* a winless start to the Premier League season and an inability to arrest a slump that goes back towards the beginning of the year. That run is beginning to cause concern with the Newcastle board and the reaction to the decision to omit Hatem Ben Arfa from first-team activities in the summer and then let him join Hull late on transfer deadline day has further cranked up hostility in the stands.

Newcastle face Southampton a week on Saturday and then entertain Hull at St James’ Park the following week. That has the possibility to be another afternoon of hostility for Pardew, who must also contend with the antagonistic element of Ben Arfa being in the visiting dugout (the French winger cannot play against his parent club as a loaned player).

Those two games are now believed to be crucial to the future of Pardew.

I could never imagine wanting Saints to lose in order to get rid of a manager. However, Pardew has had plenty of time to succeed, so I suppose it is time for a change if they have stagnated.

At what point is it acceptable to feel "stoked" for this game.
I hate peaking early and want to pace myself.

We seem to be a bit of a bogey team for Newcastle, so hopefully that works in our favour. But no game is easy, and with the players they have bought in, they can still score goals. I know their defence looks pretty shoddy at the moment, so hopefully we can take advantage of that. Wouldn't surprise me if it's another draw though.

This game will be one of the first in a few years that I will be working whilst it is on. How i avoided this for so long, god knows but it will be hard not knowing the score probably until match of the day comes on!
