As the dust settles on the new managerial appointment I am wondering what everyone is thinking would be a successful first season. Myself I think survival would be an achievement due in part to the huge task at hand of making a mark on a pulis team with the majority of fans wanting a,differing style of football and the amount of dead wood in the team. I feel it be a big ask change drastically in one season and expect a top 10 finish. I would accept a slight change in direction and staying up for a first season if we are goin in the right direction footballing wise. Any of you guys expect anything different in the coming season or have any differing views ?
To be honest and totally fair to Hughes, he has a massive job in hand. The squad of players we have are ones that only Pulis could make tick. He needs a huge clear out and fresh blood bringing in. He needs time to settle in the new blood and get the retained players to play his new way. I think the fixtures will make or break him. Hughes is quoted as saying that this is the first time ever that fans want him gone even before he has started, so he has a big point to prove and I hope he does prove it too. He made mistakes at QPR and he knows he did. Pulis would not have excepted that he would have blamed everyone bar himself. I say give him time and he could take us forward. If not then get shut! I'm both excited and apprehensive for the new season. I have my season ticket already so no going back for me now!
The thing that strikes me is the amount of points we gave away last season for being so negative all the time so a bit more positivity may actually see us picking up more points. I know if were more open it increases the risk of conceeding and losing the game but when we were negative we tended to lose anyway so hopefully nxt season we will give it a go more when we get the chance
