Why do so many brits go over to a foreign country to live and go to pubs, watch sky tv,shop at Icelands and refuse to learn the native language? the most shocking thing is that they even complain about certain things.. perplexes me really.
I mean I live in a foreign country because my parents had to come over here for work purposes but these people come over here because they want to but they miss England... if you miss it go back there then.<laugh>

Yeah that's the main reason but it's just a it crazy that they complain about England but then do all this.

Because they're English, ergo they are too ignorant and arrogant to bother.

It's what everyone does when they move abroad, they try to keep the things they liked (like Eastenders) and get rid of the things they don't like (like the weather and the council estates).

When living in Malta literally around 90% of my mates were ex-pats - Russians, Germans, English, Irish, Danish. I have about 6 or 7 Maltese people I'd truly call friends, mostly because none of the ex-pats really mixed that well with them.

In Guernsey I don't have a single 'Guern' friend who doesn't work with me.

I have family living near Murcia up in the mountains, they speak fluent Spanish and absorb themselves in the Spanish culture..... They do have Sky+ and stock up on brand favourites but they have a fantastic standard of living ....
When you go down the coast and see a mini Southend i feel sickened by them...... Hell on earth

Banana, while I know what you are meaning about people leaving Britain to live in another country, it is natural to want some things from home, in fact I can't even be bothered speaking about this, it would take too long. Britain is ****ed. FACT!

most people from another country like to be around familiar surroundings etc

The only thing that gets me is when brits complain about foreigners not 'mixing' or learning the lingo etc
yet do exactly the same thing

In fact in my experience (limited to france) brits are far worse in trying to learn local customs or fit in
