Rather than excuses, he actually said it was a bad decision which gets highlighted more because he is a World Cup ref.

Nah it's highlighted more in fairness because it's up there with the worst decisions this season.

Yeah i used to berate the refs in the 60's and onwards but if i look back they were probably better in the old days. Saw a game lately on the tv where the three officials were high fiving each other just prior to the game starting, and thought wtf is that all about.
Sadly they all think that the game revolves around them, and that they are the stars of the show that people go to see. But as long as the Refs association uses people who in all honesty have never played the game, or if they have , they were naff and took to whistle blowing we will continue to operate in the dark ages.<steam>

unlike the refs back in the 60's and 70's....these bunch of professional ref seem to want to in the limelight, the good refs in my opinion are the ones you don't notice, just get on with it. The likes of Webb, Mariner and Clattenburg want as much attention as the players. Having said that, I do remember Clive Thomas back in the early 70's what a tosser he was.

If these sorts of decisions were a rarity and from different refs then there wouldn't be a problem but, it's usually the same bunch of glory hunting twats who make the same bad decisions. Not a great problem if you are a top 4/5 team but, anyone else if federally fooked.

It wouldn't bother me so much if they came out & admitted they were wrong & explained their decisions.

Its very rare that Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and maybe now City will come into that frame, get bad decisions against them. If its 50/50 they get the benefit EVERYTIME. Its because the FA are **** scared that their little European Champions League clubs dont get there to represent England in Europe. Everything will always be done to ensure that our 4 usual suspects get to Europe and if anyone such as Spurs do it, then its a minor miracle.

They are **** scared too of Wenger, SAF and the like, as they are all powerful in the game today. I cant wait for the day both managers **** off to their respective retirement homes and the English game has fresh faces at these clubs.

Until then, clubs beneath the European radar will just have to keep having these ****ty decisions happen to them without any comeback. I only hope MoN left Web the twat under no illusion that he thought he had been made to look a total prat in front of millions yesterday and had made one of the worst domestic penalty decisions anyone can remember in the game for over 25 years.

Hurt the bastards pride and dent their egos is the best way to hurt these posturing, ****er refs these days.

Considering he was **** at being a World Cup ref, he should've tried to be a Premier League one instead...

i know i dont understand why there refs union (or who ever it is) dont let them go out after a game on MOTD/Sky Sports and apoligise/stick up for the desision after watching back the part of the game then we all see that the ref is sorry he came to the conclusion he did but he couldnt really see it and got the wrong angle then no one will blame a ref at all

All that would be fine for marginal decisions, they will not get everything right but, for a decision that was right in front of him no amount of apologising will help.
We have had Webb on 3 occasions this season in 18 games Why? are they all too busy trying to get onto televised games or too scared to venture past Watford?

No, he should be getting those right as a so called professional mate as I said marginal ones fine say you were wrong and you'd be better thought of, blatant ones no amount of saying sorry will make me think any better of any ref.
