By SAMI MOKBEL Last updated at 10:28 PM on 11th January 2012 Tottenham have made a £7.5million offer for Blackburn defender Chris Samba. Harry Redknapp has put a central defender at the top of his January shopping list and has pinpointed Samba as his No 1 target. Spurs officials have contacted Rovers, making their opening offer to set up a deal for their skipper, who is keen to leave the struggling Barclays Premier League club. Sportsmail revealed on Tuesday that Redknapp would step up his move for Samba this week, fearing new Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes would steal a march on him for the signature of the 27-year-old Congo international. QPR tabled a £7m offer for Samba on Tuesday and the London clubs are now involved in a straight fight to land the highly-regarded central defender. Redknapp is so keen to land a new centre half that he even contemplated hijacking Chelseaâs move for Gary Cahill this week. But he was told the Bolton defenderâs deal was too far advanced. Cahill has agreed personal terms understood to be in the region of £80,000 a week with the Stamford Bridge club and is expected to join them before Saturdayâs clash with Sunderland, dependant on a medical. They would even accept a lower offer from Spurs than let him go to a relegation rival me thinks
Samba may prefer to work with MH again, and also have a better chance of playing most games. On the other hand Club in 3rd or Club in ......
Hope you're right Harry surely has focused on the Everton game, surely?! SAMI MOKBEL follows us everywhere though. Was at the MK Dons game, had special permition in the summer to follow the Italian tour. Wouldn't be to surprised if he got an insider.
If Samba want instant success or wants to go to big club he obviously choices spurs. There will even be no contest. On the other hand if he want to be 100% sure in a starting XI and a manager he is familiar with he obvilously choices QPR. Then again Blackburn wont easily let their captain go to their rival relegation candidates. Well...Im not pessimist ,but im certain that he will join spurs tomorrow........
He has to go to spurs. The question is how far we're willing to push the price up to make it difficult for them? There must be a few conversations going on behind the scenes, like 'arry telling MH "if you let us have samba for less, we'll give you Bassong for less".
This might seem a silly question but who has the final say in a transfer ? I mean if Spurs offer more money than us BUT the player still wants to come to QPR then who has the final decision, the club or the player ?
I think Qpr need to be a bit more discreet and quiet about who we're after, if we make a bid for someone and other clubs want it out in the public domain then fair enough but we are only creating competitions being so public about it
The player turns down the personal offer from Spurs but makes it clear that he wants out. Blackburn then try and negotiate something with the Rs, trying to get them to up their offer. It is then all down to Blackburn and how badly they need the money or whether they are prepared to forgo the cash and have a disgrunted player. Samba will go, despite Blackburn saying (for the benefit of their fans) that they won't sell him. When is his contract up? That would make a difference.
Thanks Eamon. So I'm right in thinking if Samba does really want to play for us under MH then he can ?
Think he's almost a year into a five year contract signed early 2011. Wanted out after Steve Keen was appointed remember, money talks in all walk of life. Let's see if our money can talk him into a move
IT'S OKAY LADS! I had a dream last night where he came off the bench and made his debut for us before anyone knew he had signed, we were all cheering him like a goal had been scored! Oddly he was partnering ****tu in defence... the two of them together would scare the hell out of me, even if Danny isn't the best Prem CB in the world! You heard it here first...
Samba told French newspaper L’Equipe that he was looking to move to a ‘more ambitious’ club and admitted he was flattered by interest from Paris Saint-Germain. ‘Lately, mentally, it has been difficult,’ said Samba. ‘I tried to maintain my level of performance, but I sense that it is time for a change. The club doesn’t evolve at all. I’m resigned. ‘I’ve always put the interests of the club before my own. I’ve invested a lot, always tried to lead by example, but things have not gone as I was told. I hope people will understand me.’ The player said he wasn’t aware of anything concrete from PSG, but admitted: ‘In any case, it’s flattering. The club has reached another level, it’s not the PSG of a few years ago. ‘There are Leonardo, Ancelotti ... I’m sure they will bring in great players. We shall see if the interest is confirmed or not, but it would be good for me to return home. ‘The most important thing is to find an ambitious club. I would love to experience something different.’ There it is that word again, ambitious. Read into it what you like, me, i'm quietly optimistic
1106 FOOTBALL: Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba, who has been the subject of recent transfer speculation, has told L'Equipe that he wants to quit the Ewood Park club, saying "It's time for a change." He added: "I tried to maintain my level of performance but I sense that it is time for a change. The club doesn't evolve at all. I'm resigned." Looks like a transfer request is coming next, lets see if MH can work his magic.
